You want to throw the game next week? Sidey, Ginnivan and WHE were all okay. McCrae doesn't look near it. Madge is holding the fort until Roughy is ready but he did a good job too for most of the night. Stuff rebuilding. We pick a side to win each week. We have blooded many young blokes in the past year. At some stage the team has to become settled. That's how they become cohesive and confident.

Kelly has done nothing to warrant a call up. He may well have some talent but I'm yet to see it even at VFL level.
Fyi Sidey is not going to play becouse of injury i would not drop him.
Now if you think if we drop Madge and Whe our team will fall apart, which will mean a guaranteed loss next week, are you serious? or are you pulling my leg?
Our objective is to get to a premiedhip window asap if that means go back one step to go forward 4 i am happy with that.
We need to blood kids and see if they are up to it.
Roughy and Dean wont be back to round 10,11 or 12.
We desperatelly need to find another tall defender, Give Kelly and Mcmahon a few games worse case scenario will know there not up to it.
Fyi Mcrae killed it in the second half in the seconds today.
Our obhective like i said is to get our team to be contenders for a premieship asap.

Madgen and Cameron are the two brittle links in the chain.

Madgen just simply isn’t able to match it with key forwards, nor does his limited skill set warrant a spot anywhere else in the backline. Kelly looked okay in the VFL, and at least deserves a chance before Roughead/Dean come back.

Cameron is so bloody predictable and below par as an AFL standard key forward. Doesn’t even try to work his opponent over or provide dangerous options. Relies purely and solely on clunking the occasional mark in a contest. It was partly why Krueger was a breath of fresh air.

Despite being smaller, Johnson actually leads up to dangerous areas, gets involved in chains and his aerial prowess will counter his size disadvantage.

In: Kelly, Johnson
Out: Madgen, Cameron

We have to provide ruck relief to Grundy with either Cox or Cameron Unfortunately.
‘Neither are great rucks or forwards. But it’s all we have.

They are much of a muchness… that said Cox should have played yesterday as he was the incumbent in round one. At least Cox makes opposition defences double team him, and he’s also better below his knees than Cameron. Cameron’s five minute cameo the week before obviously enough to pull the wool over the selectors eyes.

Agree. Will the 3rd quarter cameo keep him in this week?

I’m so ambivalent on the whole Cox v Cameron I don’t care which one we pick for now.

Kelly in for Madgen. We have to try it and Kelly at least has endurance to keep up.

Johnson for WHE. There will be calls to drop Henry but WHE had almost identical stats and from what I saw little impact on the contest. We need to look to the future.

Ginnivan may just be lucky that Harrison didn’t play yesterday and that Sam Fowler is on our VFL list, not afl list. That said, like Henry we need to persist and get games into him.

Reef stays in. Will be interesting to see what we do when McCreery is ready to return.

EXACTLY!!! Cox is always double teamed. Every single time.

I’d love to see Mihocek’ stats with and without Cox.

I’m so done with people who think Cameron is much better than Cox. Cox would have absolutely taken a few marks in the last quarter and stopped Tom Stewart having 13 intercept possessions.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Ash give a little chop out in there.

They’ve been trialling it in the VFL and obviously during fly and Leppa’s time at the Tigers they used undersized rucks.

Cox and Cameron are like for like. Coxy had a 9 disposal, 5 mark, 3 goal and 16 hit outs game at VFL level, whilst Cameron had a 13 disposal , 4 mark, 2 goal and 9 hit outs game at AFL level. To me they are line ball, so l wouldn't see the need to replace Cameron at the moment.

If they’re like for like, why don’t you play the bloke we have gone to a grand final with?
The bloke who has :
actually changed games for us; constantly been double teamed;
provides a target down the line; and
Infringed upon in most marking contests.

Cameron is a ruckman. Period. He’s not a forward.

GF was 4 years ago. Cox is now 31 and struggles to mark...
The experiment is over.

He took the same amount of contested marks as your boy Cameron against a much better defender in Howard.

Cox, Mihocek, Kreuger / Johnson is the forward line we need to be aiming for. Cox will hopefully be replaced by an actual forward and not a ruckman.

The experiment is over, Cox is a stopgap at best moving forward.

So is Cameron. The question is who the better stop gap is.

Maybe it doesn’t make a difference but I think Cameron being very vanilla should be second choice . He’s only in the side because Cox suffered a minor injury in round one and then the selection gods the next week inexplicably made him the sub.

That was 2018, and the last couple of years in particular Coxy has struggled, even to the point where the club were looking at delisting him, before giving him a one year deal.
Cameron has shown at times he can play forward and ruck. The QB clash against Melbourne last year he kicked 4.
As l said they are like for like, so to just drop one for the other at this stage, l couldn't see the point.

It must be said that at the start of the year many people were questioning our depth, especially if our older leaders get injured.
I must say I’m overjoyed with the amount of emerging talented younger players coming through much much quicker than expected, that depth may not be as big an issue.
Our reserves a playing a great brand and I would be ok with any of Cox, Johnson, Macrae or even rejuvenated Wilson in the seniors next week.
Plus Harrison, Murley, Draper and Dean moving forward as all have good attributes
Roughy, Krueger, McCreery will return
Kelly, Bianco and Cal if necessary
Got far more options than initially thought we would have prior season.
Good signs.
Reef also pleasing last night
Finally can’t wait too see AJ get a run, seems untapped, looked class at times yesterday
