i don’t think mitch really threw any curve balls at us though, hawthorn just played smart uncontested footy and we weren’t accountable and left players free all over the ground for the full four quarters.

Here's the thing though - we are realistically working towards being a good team in 2025 and maybe a premiership threat from 2026 onwards. We know that a game plan takes a good 18 months to bed in and for young players to get to that 50-100 games of experience and various lines playing 50 games together. These guys have had barely 3 months of working with Clarko and Ratten and Monkhorst. If an opposition coach throws something at us that is considerably different from our preparation during the week and over the past 3 months with the ultimate aim of being good 2 years from now, then it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to change our game plan and our defensive zones and so on just for the sake of a result right now. From our game plan point of view, the problem was not so much that our zones were so bad or that Hawthorn was able to get loose. The problem was that we gave up too many clearances or gave them the ball back too often so that they could do what they wanted to do.

Yes it will, you are reserving a seat to the game. You will receive a ticket to your email which you can use on your phone or to print out. You won't be using your membership to gain access.

This. 100% Clarko is playing the long game. You can learn more from a loss than a win in many circumstances. Would it be too long a bow to draw to suggest Clarko and Rats picked up very quickly what the Hawks were doing in the first quarter. But let it ride and at quarter time challenged the team to make a change themselves or point out where things were breaking down - I wonder if anyone in the team was able to do so? Gets to half time and nothing really has changed. So Clarko lets them know and changes are put in place. Not surprising we come back in the 3rd and 4th.

A team needs to be self-sufficient and identify themselves what an opposition is doing differently. How to arrest momentum, critical once you get to finals. If you are never given the chance to do this then you will never learn. Clarko gave them the chance in this game. They didn't respond quickly enough or perhaps were not able at all to fix it themselves. Not surprising he gave zero coaches votes.... They need to do better on reading the opposition play and adjusting their game style.

All this is over and above the skills errors and who was out. This is about team cohesion, letting them fail to learn. A master coach is not always explicit in their teachings and from a far it can be deceptive as to what they are doing. Wax on, wax off. Patience grasshoppers.

I liked his improvement across his games last year, and he ahs been solid in the VFl so far, but I see him more as a 3rd tall down back, a Jack replacement potentially more than a KPD.

This north Melbourne closer to a flag crew , are they the ones that were doing shoeys and got the LDU chant up against the suns last year? That was legendary. Would love to see more of it Friday. Need some more of those cardboard cut outs of clarko as well .

Yeh that's them I could see the guy doing the shoey and then playing around with the police from Lvl 3
