Cal Brown is also vulnerable, but he's showing good signs so might keep his spot.

I like Varcoe, but he doesn't seem to be creating space or closing it down as effectively as he has in the past. He was fumbly whenever he got near it as well, so I agree he might be the unlucky one.

Are we all forgetting Greenwood? Can he come out for Elliott and Straight swap Reid for Cox? Or does that leave us one down in defence? I'd think Brown and Wilbur keep their spots.

To my own mind the return of Aish would see the dropping of Greenwood, but Aish doesn't play and so the pig stays. Taking him out would see to lose us a defender.

But I dunno. I think it's fair to say that Greenwood --as well as Varcoe and Brown-- could also be on the chopping block.

Cox is a huge blow, not only because of his forward presence, but also it is the worst game for him to be missing, considering Port have Ryder and Lycett. Surely we wont have Grundy rucking solo?
Reid is a up in the air selection, will he play forward or back? Considering Ports ruck combo, maybe Reid plays down back, release Moore to the forward line to replace Cox, and also give Grundy a chop out in the ruck.
Grundy loves rucking solo, he will thrive.

That he's a magician and will improve our midfield twofold

A fit and firing Wells would improve our delivery inside forward 50 immensely. It's unfortunate his body rarely holds up but he might have one more purple patch of form in him at AFL level. A gun when fit.

Big out for them. Shame, I love watching him play.

Love watching Gray as well, just not the times he has torn the pies a new one.

Reid has never relied on pace to create impact. It was his ability to get into position, his 1-on-1 skills, marking, and kicking.

In that respect if his body is (and remains) healthy, ** knock-on-wood **, he might pleasantly surprise us all.

Well it'll be Reid for Cox. It's a shame Reidys body hasn't held up because he was a genuine A grader at his best. He'll do a good job Friday night, just needs to give Grundy a 5 min chop out per quarter. Very smart player so expecting he can hit the scoreboard and snag a few goals, will take a good defender at the bare minimum.

I now think they'll hold on Wellsy for another few weeks.

Billy will come back in for either JT or Brown. I'm leaning towards Browny.

Aish or Greenwood, take your pick.

Greenwood needs to go and occupy Boak, Boak has been in brilliant form this season and has really been the barometer for the Power this season. As has been mentioned by many on this board, when Levi isn't tagging he isn't offering much.

Varcoe can provide great forward pressure so stays for mine, meaning Brown the unlucky one this week, as Elliot comes straight back in.

IN: Reid, Elliot
OUT: Cox, Brown

Maynard, Roughead, Howe
Crisp, Moore, Langdon

Grundy, Beams, Adams
Sidebottom, Pendlebury, Phillips,

Thomas, Reid, Stephenson
Elliot, Mihocek, De Goey

Hoskin-Elliot, Treloar, Varcoe, Greenwood

Have we all forgotten Sier already. He is best 22.

To me our best 22 is missing Cox, Sier, Mayne

He is best 22 agreed...…………..but he has plenty of work to do before he is back in the Seniors.

A long time to run, but if he stays fit and goes ok when he plays seniors. I'd be offering him another one year extension. Great depth to have up our sleeves.

I’m happy for others to indulge in this type of discussion, but it’s a straight out no from me. It falls under poor list management 101.

Reid in the ruck against Ryder or Lycett will be a massacre. I am with most that although tempting to play Reid back and Roughy forward as relief ruck, it messes with our structure. Also not sure Roughy is much chop forward.

We will really need to have the game on our terms if possible when resting Grundy. Slow down momentum of the game, keep possession and let Grundy have 2-3 minute rest each quarter without too much damage to the score board.

Think we need Greenwood and Varcoe if Roughhead is going to be the second ruck, if he isn't and Reid gives Grundy help in the ruck, then maybe Greenwood or Varcoe is the second out. Have seen Reid a few times in the VFL ruck.

Will be interesting the way the match committee will be thinking.

Reid hasn't played in defence in many years. Won't happen
