Man... since tex will probably retire... there's really no reason to play him bar injury...

I don't agree with that take, particularly with the KPF role.

He will take the best defender every week and it allows the other key forwards room to grow on lesser players.

I'm fine with Tex being in the team till end of season, Sloane can do one though.

I maintain that the coaches current leading the club do not know how to effectively complete a rebuild.

The list managers have been ok.
Coaches want a job next year and think wins will get them that?

You’d hope they’d have clear instructions to prioritise development over wins but maybe they’re paranoid about tanking.

The only game I wanted to win this year was last week, I wouldn't really care if we lost 85/90% of our games remaining.

We need another top tier pick.

But yeah, Nicks should have been told he needs to prioritse development - now we just fall into the same old quagmire of scraping wins.

Nicks had a free hit in both 2020 and 2021 and for me he was not aggresive enough with selection back then and has dug his own grave.

The only new young players introduced into this team is Rachele and Gollant. Jones, McHenry, Rowe, Frampton all very lucky imo. Are we the only club that drafts mids and doesn't play them? Not sure why Berry who was best on ground by a mile last week is not even in the emergencies. The dons will be too quick for our team imo.

We'll see if Sloane comes up in the captains run or is a late withdrawal.

Other then that, a side in the middle of a deep rebuild, and has a dearth of leadership is not going to leave out their captain or best key forward.

Senior players omitted in 2022: Milera
Young players omitted in 2022: Thilthorpe, Soligo, Pedlar, Murray, Cook, Fogarty

So which of our tall forwards should have been dropped? Granted Himmelberg for Thilthorpe was always questionable choice.

Soligo is in his first season. Given a taste.

Pedlar and Cook - questionable drops.

Tex was always going to play when fit - at this point he is our best forward and provides guidance and direction.

Cook had an excellent game against the pies, he has one quiet game and we drop him.

Someone has obviously told Nicks that he needs W's. Nicks is turning very Don Pykeish with his selections of experience and continuity.
If people think Chayce has been poor, you can hardly say Cook was ‘excellent’ against the Pies

Don't select those young guys if you are only going to give them one game

Hope it's a close one because it won't be a show piece.

Stringer is almost all our midfield grunt and goal scoring so him our tips the scales Adelaide's way slightly. That said we have had some good games against you lot over the last few years so here's hoping for another one!

It took us 17 years to win in Melbourne against Essendon. Even when we tracking ok against your side, we lost in Melbourne.

Nothing is ever guaranteed and especially so with a young side travelling interstate.
