while schoenberg has had a poor start to the season, i wouldnt have exactly pointed to him as being the problem when you watch the midfield go

He has been horrible. First goal to Essendon came directly from him with a putrid kick turnover on their half forward line. You can’t reward the form he has been in

None of the three changes are that weird individually. But as a group this completely mystifies me:

Schoenberg probably deserves it, but didn't think they'd pull the trigger.

IMHO Rowe isn't best 22. But is coming off an OK game and more confusingly McHenry still in the side ahead of him.

Hinge is surely just a case of him being left out to recover from an injury, but said to be 'omitted' as some sort of psychological thing????

Rowe has been, at times, a point of hope for us in games in patches we haven't been on. With that being said he isn't a player we actually want in our side. Just not good enough overall so not unhappy he makes way.

Schoenberg out only for as long as it takes to get in his rhythm again.

Hately has to be feeling hard done by. Needs a chance at some point, not waiting until his form drops to see him be underwhelming.

You get the feeling that Thilthorpe is just an underwhelming Gollant performance away from coming back. I stand by my belief that we need to see Tex - Thilthorpe - Gollant. Himmelberg just isn't part of our future.

I hope Thilthorpe is the sub. He is versatile enough. Hinge or Hately after that. Jimmy Rowe isn't a good sub imo though with that being said he plays for frees and we get them at home and up against the Tigers who love to give them away.

At the end of the day the most glaring issues are Frampton who is just going to get towelled up a Balta or Riewoldt and ROB.

Anyway let's hope one is pulled out of the arse this week as opposed to inserted.

Schoenberg a typical younger player scapegoat.

Hinge pretty stiff too.

I would’ve dropped Sloane but we all know that’s not happening
Harry has been awful

His turnovers have been at times under little to no pressure

This is not just one bad game, but four bad games that have cost scores for, and scores against with his poor ball use and decision making

He also seems low in confidence

No issue with him being dropped

The non Hately decision could be due to midfield balance decision

Can we play Hately, Sloane, Keays and Crouch all in the same midfield

I think not....

I do understand your point. But Berry instead isn't any faster, plus shorter. I actually think a place for Berry and Hately this week.

Surprised Berry got the nod over Hately, but either one was expected. Rowe a bit still to miss, but Cook starting is a good thing.
You shouldn't be...

I posted this a couple of days ago...
Sam Berry 2 games in the SANFL 54 Disposals, 25Kicks, 29 Hb's, 14 Clearances, 15 tackles, 12 i50's 2 goals.

Jackson Hately
1 1/2 games in the SANFL 49 Disposals, 23 Kicks, 26 Hb's, 3 Clearances, 6 tackles, 6 i50's, 1 goal.

Rowe as a sub is a weapon IMO.

Good for a goal or two late in the game.
Does that make practical sense having a specialist as a sub?

I've always thought you should pick the sub that provides the most flexibility as you have no idea who is going to go down. All the other 3 emergencies are more flexible.

probably not no, i just dont want to see sloane keep going further off the cliff

I guess that's fair, Berry wins tackles and clearances, Crouch doesn't
Now it's obvious you haven't been watching, Berry is covering a heap of ground both forward and in defence while on ball and showing heaps of run as well as hitting the scoreboard, it was an absolute no brainer he'd be preferred over Hately who in the main got a stack of cheap possessions off of other players hard work.

Wonder what ad victoriam thinks?

IN:
McAdam, Cook, Berry

OUT:
Hinge, Rowe, Schoenberg

Hinge dropped and named as an emergency, not injured
Surprised they dropped Hinge.

Other changes make sense.

Schoenberg playing SANFL as the main mid is better than AFL HF.

I would have kept him in, give him more CBAs and get him to learn how to work out of the form slump.

Cook should never have been demoted to sub.

Berry our best SANFL mid at the moment.

Yes, he's playing like how Crouch should be playing

Since when have the coaches ever worried about midfield balance.
I like Berry but surely he is more of the same
At least Hately offers some height in the midfield

I’ve not watched any of the SANFL games, but if McAdam’s in form, surely he’s an upgrade on Rowe?
I would’ve put Rowe’s form over the past 4 weeks as plenty enough to keep him in the side for now. I wouldn’t say McAdam’s been knocking down the door, either

Yes, he's playing like how Crouch should be playing
Crouch and very few of our mids have the tank nor athleticism Sam Berry has.....You'll get to see how good Sam is aerially pretty soon that should finally open your eyes.

Don't hate the changes.
Rowe will never be first team quality. He tries but he's a gap filler.
Schoey is horribly out of confidence. Not his fault. Played out of position but needs midfield time at lower level to get his groove back.
Hinge isn't right. Hes first team but not 100% clearly.

The lucky one is ROB. Worst game I've seen him play and was a major contributor to why we lost. He must be in notice.

The ins were great. Just Thilthorpe and Strauchan missing.
