As for Matt Crouch playing in front of Schoenberg , especially with Shoenberg playing his best game in showdown with high mid minutes then shunted to accomodate sloane

Well …. We deserve to rebuild for years longer than what we should
It's a fkndisgrace, isn't it?
Make shoenberg play out of poz, then drop him. Ridiculous. It's gotta be messing with Schoenberg's head.

Really damages my confidence in Nicks, what little there is left.

Getting closer to a Sack Nicks thread. Keeping Sloane,Frampton,Crouch and Jones in this side is unforgivable really.
Nicks was hired on the back of saying what they wanted to hear.
He'll be fired for the consequences of putting what he said into action.

The mugs who hired/fired him will go on their merry, club-crushing ways.

I have been at three of our four matches this year in the flesh and I have watched a replay of all matches.

Dawson has spent 70% of his ToG in the midfield, mostly on the wing.

Until last week Shoey played almost entirely in the midfield.

Sloane and Keays have been spending more time forward and less time in the midfield than last year.

Hinge has been playing on the wing until last week when he was mostly at half back (and imho looked good before he was injured).

The only players who have not had a poor match or more are Dawson. Keays and Rachele. There is a Melbourne Cup field of contenders who could be dropped.

Now it's obvious you haven't been watching, Berry is covering a heap of ground both forward and in defence while on ball and showing heaps of run as well as hitting the scoreboard, it was an absolute no brainer he'd be preferred over Hately who in the main got a stack of cheap possessions off of other players hard work.

Wonder what ad victoriam thinks?
Let hope the coaches actually have faith in him, let him start in the middle and see what he can do. Hope they don’t play him out wide the whole game and he can’t get near the ball.
If they want to play young players like Berry, give him a go in his favoured position to see what he can do. Have some confidence in the young fella

Massively, this.

I was actually thinking this week that Hinge has become super important for us with his run given Seed is out and Milera is a massive question mark.

Plus Hinge is flexible and a handy height.

I’m super suss too given his injury cloud and being dropped/injured but named an emergency.

Keen to see Berry at centre bounces, worried it won’t happen tho.

I like that we’re investing in Cook.
Surely Hinge is a fitness concern cos he was the ONLY GOOD defender last week until injured. Smith is mr invisisble bar a few good spoits possessions and Brown is 50/50 becoming a lesser player than he was as is Smith and Sloane and Crouch and McHenry!! lol

The changes to the side since R1 are pretty depressing for a rebuilding side:

Out: Thilthorpe, Milera, McPherson, Soligo, Murray, Fogarty, Schoenberg, Hinge and Rowe

In: Walker, Sholl, Cook, Gollant, Laird, Frampton, Murphy, Berry and McAdam

That's a bunch of first round picks dumped and a number of players with 20-40 games we'd hoped to see take the next step. We've also brought in battlers like Frampton and Murphy, while the midfield remains stacked with senior plodders.

Just a load of yuck really.

9 changes in the first 5 weeks for all the young guys.
That will build their confidence and give them faith in selection, not
Gives you the impression the coaches don't know what they are doing or who their best team is

Sloane and Brown really hurt us last week with their shanked kicks in the game.

Brown caused a 12pt turnaround when we led in the 3rd. Thats was the game moment right there. We had possession and was moving forward of centre.
Completely agree. Killed our momentum dead!
Very, very poor execution of a basic skill. Brown should have been dropped for that single error alone.

I like the fact that Berry is in and has been named as a follower, but man we are just throwing young players in and out of the team without a great deal of strategy at this point.

Whilst I don't think Rowie is an amazing player, it's not overly clear to me why he has been dropped for Mcadam....

To give us some more aerial presence. McAdam was not bad last week. Newchurch was pretty good as well but is an awful kick for goal.

I like this team we are going in with. We have a bit of a revolving door of players between SANFL and AFL, not necessarily based on form but more due to some quality depth in our squad. I do understand that form is one consideration for selecting our AFL team but more than likely we will see one or two injured each week, opening the door for someone else. We should be quietly excited by our depth(of admittedly not all A graders yet).
I like that for this game Dawson drops back. He will set the defence and we are going to need it. I’d like to see Thilthorpe back in but our patience will be rewarded. Our midfield will need an Easter miracle but I am hoping Berry can monster them. I really like Berry.
When you look at some of the guys being given a go like Cook, McAdam, Gollant there is a lot to like. Not sure who gets the medical sub though.
Just reminding anyone I’m not that clued on about AFL, came in as a fan in my thirties, couldn’t play the game to save myself, so I can take a correction on my comments no trouble.

If the Sack Nicks thread starts, can we please add a Sack Roo and Sack Reid thread?

When we're at that stage, then we know the review clearly did not go far enough and there's more baggage to be moved on.

How i would like to see them line-up....

B: Jones, Butts, Doedee
HB: Smith, Frampton, Murphy
C: Sholl, Keays, Dawson
HF: Rachele, Himmelberg, Sloane
F: Gollant, Walker, McAdam
R: O'Brien, Berry, Laird
I: Brown, Crouch, Cook, McHenry

Leave Dawson on a wing so he can do more damage forward. Try Murphy in defence, Sloane up forward. Give Berry & McHenry plenty of midfield minutes.

ROB, Sloane, Brown & Crouch - senior players all on notice.

To be fair, I don’t think anyone knows who our best 22 is. I’m actually ok with Schoenberg dropping out. He’s had 4 games in a row but has mostly struggled for form… he’ll be fine with a couple of games in the twos… as long as we manages the young kids so they get 15+ games each this year, with a chunk of time in the middle, then I’m fine with it.

Rowe I don’t really get as he’s been one of our most effective forwards so far this season. But his defensive game is lacking so I guess that’s why McHenry keeps his spot. But again, I don’t really mind it if we rotate through the young guys, giving each a string of games in the seniors. As long as we actually drop guys who are out of form to do it then great… which is where players like Sloane, McHenry and Jones can count themselves awfully lucky. If they put in another performance like they’ve been dishing up then it will be hard for the club to justify their spots.

Hinge I don’t quite get either. I would have thought there’s at least 2-3 defenders who you’d drop before him.

Games played.

Ditto Brown and ROB.
Our mids are killing us. That's the first place we should be looking. And 3 of our most experienced players are in there - but its the kid who's the issue.

Never mind Sloane is hobbling around and Matty seems to prefer handballing to whoever the worst option is at any given point in time. **** me.

Least berry is in. His absence was mystifying after last year.

My best 22 for the future if no injuries and the selectors know what they are doing

Brown/Parnell Butts Doedee
Smith Murray Hamill
Seedsman Laird Dawson
Cook Walker Rachele
McAdam Thilthorpe Gollant

Strachan Keays Berry

Schoenberg Hinge Pedlar Sholl/Milera

Emergencies:
Taylor Nankervis Soligo Worrell

If you listen to Nicks' press conferences, pretty much every week he's blamed the forwards.
