Strauchan should be playing this week ....offers more flexibility, in that he can play FWD for longer periods, than what ROB is capable ofAt the moment while we’re being fairly competitive in games we’re willing to carry ROB Sloane Crouch and others on the basis that “they’re better players than what they’re showing and if they can just get back to that level of form we’ll get over the line in more games.”
Of course this completely ignores the fact their best form may be behind them (Sloane) and they’ll probably never be better again (though Tex proved us wrong on this last year)
Meanwhile development of some of the youngsters is stalling. I know that playing in competitive games where we win occasionally is better than being belted each week, but selection of some of these older players does seem a little off track atm
Limited if at allWill Berry definitely get midfield time tomorrow?
Who will pick up Schoenberg's time?Limited if at all
Who will pick up Schoenberg's time?
When McAsey can start providing the drive and class out of defence that Frampton repeatedly showed in the SANFL, rather than going to ground every time he marks or contests, he can come in.Frampton .
He's so bad that even the few "something-good" things look better than they are because they're better than his usual awfulness, eg his "pass" to Hinge near the end of the PA game.
People praised him for being the sweeper --- my take is that he is clueless about positioning and figures if he is out by himself then he cannot be beaten by an opponent.
Too harsh?
Early last year he was alone in No Man's Land mid-wing and when the ball forced him to change direction he fell over his own feet, ffs.
Others praised him for kicking to Hinge, rather than bombing away but --- c'mon, let's face it --- he flubbed that kick under no oppo pressure. It's a good thing that Hinge gathered it so well and fired it into the F50 at leading players.
P.S. I don't know what the story is with McAsey (EDIT: anybody got any info, please?), but I'd rather see McAsey getting games under AFL pressure than watch Frampton spudding it up back there.
So Billys repeated failure at AFL level isnt enough ??When McAsey can start providing the drive and class out of defence that Frampton repeatedly showed in the SANFL, rather than going to ground every time he marks or contests, he can come in.
I agree that he was terrible up forward, but there's definitely something to work with as a defender. So Billys repeated failure at AFL level isnt enough ??
How can we work with a defended incapable of defending? Can't spoil properly... easily lost by his opponent.I agree that he was terrible up forward, but there's definitely something to work with as a defender.
IN:
McAdam, Cook, Berry
OUT:
Hinge, Rowe, Schoenberg
Hinge dropped and named as an emergency, not injured
Hinge is listed as an out injured, just as most of us knew.Looking at the team list on the AFL site it has our emg as Davis, Rowe, Thilthorpe and Hately so maybe we've done a swap with Hinge as emg?
I agree that he was terrible up forward, but there's definitely something to work with as a defender.
Doedee also made Marshall look like a star with 3 goals before Frampton was put on him. When people talk about his redeeming features down back they sound like they are talking about a distributor off half back.
We are looking for a CHB - he can't defend. He made Marshall look like a star. Any one of Riewoldt, Lynch or Balta will towel him up unless we have some real defensive cover.
No way.. Nicks will just say it's part of our development, we are all working really hard blah blah farkin blah.. and the masses will swallow it,Expect one of them will kick a match winning bag & that should be the end of the defender Billy experiment.
Where?Sounds like Rowe will be the sub for the AFL game.
What time ?Who will pick up Schoenberg's time?
Actually sounds like both aren't playing, so one sub, one emergency.Where?
I thought Hately might get the gig?
His on ball time. What time ?
Hately is playing in the midfield for SANFL Crows. Along with Harry and Pedlar.I thought Hately might get the gig?
Fair enough. Like I said, I don't know what it is with McAsey who's had years to improve. When McAsey can start providing the drive and class out of defence that Frampton repeatedly showed in the SANFL, rather than going to ground every time he marks or contests, he can come in.
AFL website now says Hinge as injured.IN:
McAdam, Cook, Berry
OUT:
Hinge, Rowe, Schoenberg
Hinge dropped and named as an emergency, not injured
Got asked at Bunnings today if I had my mask. I was a bit stunned and nearly apologised saying I’d forgotten it. But then just said that “I can’t wear one” and she just went ‘ok’.
Was surprised that it took to last day for someone to ask but then I thought there was probably a push from HQ to remind staff that they still had that responsibility and there’d be lots of people pulling the mask pin early.
Not sure Eyes Wide Shut parties count though...I’ve been in Paris all week, and they’re mask crazy. But still they never actually ask…
McAsey OK?SANFL Crows up by 40 at the half, gave up a 60 odd point 3rd quarter turn around.
Strachan, Hately, Worrell, Newchurch, Hammill very good. Filth got 4 goals, but went missing for big stretches.
Murray tried hard, disposal still very poor. McAsey ok, but still very below par. Pedlar invisible for most of the game.
