I think Honey is close to demanding a place this week, probably for Gia.

Agree. You've got to reward him.

Particularly when there's a 30+ bloke in his last season holding a spot - this is exactly what you want, a young fella taking/demanding the spot of a veteran.

Certainly don't agree with the discussion in bringing Williams back. 3 times this season since carlton hes been in an out of the team as a forced injury, we just can't continue to change our forward or defensive setup, even moreso now that we got a glimpse that they actually work. I wasn't a huge fan of Austin being brought in of Roberts and particularly Talia who we just have to get games into but if we are going to pick one of them lets give them 5 - 6 weeks to nail their place in the side. Williams for mine at either end simply isn't the answer and he will just get in the way of Crameri and Grant who we want pushing up the ground. Thank god Jones is back in the square. Happy to throw another tallish player in the forward line whether that be Stringer/Redpath or Cordy if we need a second ruckman but lets give them a month or two to get adjusted to the game. Out of the 3 I prefer stringer because hes the quickest out of the lot and won't get in the way of Jones or force Jones up the ground when we need him in the square.

For me the Tommy development experiment is now over. Have to love his attitude , but time to wave good bye.

Agree entirely.

Except about Austin...still had that "deer in the headlights" look about him, I just think it's half a level too high for him when he makes the step up from VFL, in much the same way it was for Markovic.

Would prefer a Tom Young type who at least provides run from the backline - we looked damaging when we got on with it last week, and more of that type of player only assists in that.

Don't know how you can say that based on last weeks game (previous games perhaps). He was great last week.

Austin was great with the footy last week. Markovic was just not athletic enough for this level. Austin is.

You see tom young's game last week? He got chopped badly. Can't bring him in for Austin.

Yeah but how can you drop Gia after last week's effort. He was brilliant.

Not saying we should drop Wallis , but seriously Boyd is a far better kick than him , certainly can be more damaging.

Boyd is a very ordinary kick not just in tight but in space. Wallis floats it a bit more and seems more accurate to me, more like Cross, Wallis kicks within his limitations. Boyd's decision making with his kicking writes cheques his body just can't cash. So in short I disagree.

Also team goes better when Wallis plays and worse when Boyd plays - small sample but...

Stats on Boyd and Wallis.

2013
Boyd & Wallis Won 1, Played 4
Just Wallis Won 4 Played 9
Just Boyd Won 3 Played 9
Neither Won 0 Played 1

2014
Boyd & Wallis Won 2 , Played 5
Just Wallis Won 1, Played 3
Just Boyd Won 1, Played 4

Totals
Boyd and Wallis Won 3, Played 9 - 33%
Just Wallis Won5, Played 12 - 41%
Just Boyd Won 4 Played 13 - 30%

Not sure we drop Stevens totally, but I think Hunter is a better forward line player. Koby snagged three by snapping from the contest (the sort of goal we desperately need given the way we kick into the forward line!!). But Hunter is perfectly capable of that, plus is more dangerous around the half-forward area. Maybe Id put Honeychurch in that category as well.

Hrovat played a pretty good game for a youngster, but with only 16 disposals and most of those uncontested and a game against Port on the road…Id be tempted to drop him and use Stevens in the midfield.

mids - Cooney, Hrovat OUT Stevens, Boyd IN
forward - Stevens OUT Hunter/HoneyChurch IN

and possibly swap Austin for Williams depending on match ups, fitness.
I get what you're saying, but Hrovat was mostly playing forward, not in the midfield. So your whole structure falls apart.

Are u for real? Not saying wallis is great but he can hit targets unlike boydy who couldn't hit the side of a barn

Rubbish , for a bloke who gets it 30 or 40 times in tight traffic, his kicking is ok.
If you are me telling me those pissy little 30 metre sideways kicks from Cross got us anywhere over the years I know nothing about footy. ( shit let you in there )
As an example look back to the Adelaide game , if not for a couple of outstanding deliveries into the 50 from Boyd, I doubt we would have won.
I know I am in a minority here but boy does Boyd get a bad rap.

Not on your own at all King. Boyd is a decent kick but for some reason when he turns it over people tend to overreact.

Absolute rubbish.
So someone who was AA 2 years can't kick. Not saying he is Gary Ablett but ------ Can't be bothered arguing.
As for Wallis , not a great kick and needs to work on it , but would be no more damaging than Boyd.
By the way I am more than happy with Wallis progress. He will be a very good player for us.
Don't want Boyd to come in for him.

Both great ball winners but both are terrible ball users

Questions over Boyd and Wallis' disposal efficiency have blown way out of proportion.

You can count on them to dispose of it well generally. They stuff it up no more than a hell of a lot of other players.

don't agree buddy

Boyd grabs the ball and kicks it foward that's it , wallis has a disgusting kicking action and is a shit kick
Fair enough if you don't agree, but watch them closely the next time they play. I disagree wholeheartedly with both statements. They're not great kicks but as I said, blowing it out of proportion.

I do watch closely I never miss a game , last year a few mates use to laugh at Boyd's disposal every game we checked his efficiency most weeks would go in the mid 50s
