My biggest take away from that article is that Clark doesn’t want to move up to the wing so he’s offering Young as a viable alternative!

Edit: and that Young won a centre clearance 25% of the time he attended, if all 3 of our mids did that we’d win 75% of centre clearances, make it happen JLo
Find that interesting.
Is Clark mentally affected playing wing ?

No - there is no implication that Clark doesn't want to play wing, it's just that Chapman is better suited because of his elite endurance, and also Im sure from JLos perspective it would be a waste to put Clark in a position that is potentially going to mean they won't be able to get the ball in his hands as much.

Great highlight reel of Sebit's Six -make sure you watch to the end.

One of his kicks travels c60m from 48m.
He's putting on some bulk.
His kicking approach lacks some fluency.
He didn't get a lot of competition but good to see him clunking overhead marks.

I don’t even believe he’s 185cm either. To the eye he just looks so small when up against the premium mids in the comp. I think it’s a genuine issue for us as we also have Serong in there. MJ at least is a big framed guy I guess.
For the remainder of this season would live a decent look at both young and Chapman in the midfield at various stages. Even a couple of games each to get an idea. That’s the kind of experimentation that could really pay dividends in 2024

As per my earlier post, there are plenty of photos of the Brayshaw brothers and it is clear Andy is 6-8cm shorter than Angus (listed at 188cm). Andy was probably measured with his studs on.

It's a major problem now due to the support cast also being small (Aish, Henry, JOM, small forwards rotating through) or inexperienced, but shouldn't be in the future. But we have a 2-3 year holding pattern while the greenhorns develop. People keep talking about 2024 or 2025, but I think it will be 2026 that our genuine window will start.

You are a good judge. I personally have us down for being in serious contention for a 2027 flag. My thinking is not entirely different to yours but, weirdly, is also predicated on a seven-year cycle where we were decent in 2006 and 2013. Obviously we ****ed up for 2020 but we're looking sweet to peak again in 27.

I realise such a programmatic approach is highly fraught but style is what you get away with.

Internal growth within the list could present options for the midfield mix (more promisingly Chapman, more cameo-style for Young perhaps, plus others). No doubt there'll be external options as possibilities to add experienced-size in the shorter term. Jackson certainly gives size to the midfield if we think of it as a group (and is essentially how they operate), especially when Darcy is there.

Too fixed a concept of cycles is definitely a bit of a trap to think of contention for a team. But I remember thinking in the 2012-13 years, when there were conversations about our "life-cycle" as a team, that our big advantages/point-of-difference as a team was the elite key pillars in Pav and McPharlin. Most everything else could be interchangeable pieces around them as you had more options in doing that. But they were essential to hitting the pointy end of things. It's why I used to figure in those years that 2016 was a critical point for our contention, as I figured they'd both either be gone or significantly reduced by then.

Let's not exaggerate too much. He's not that small...

Nod and Banfield should be dropped this weekend for Darcy and Aish, and Erasmus should also be playing somewhere, but I think that Sturt will be dropped again.
Unfortunately JL would rather poke his own eyeballs out with a screwdriver than play sturt ahead of Banfield from what I have seen.
I do think JL respects the stats and rewards people who get to work on their deficiencies. Sturt had good numbers in terms of tackles, pressure acts etc but also hit the scoreboard. Hard to see how JL could justify dropping him.

Sebit is a Star forward in the making.

I have absolutely no idea what to expect this week. Our form has been so absolutely hot and cold.
If Essendon get a run on with midfield clearances it could easily be a 10 goal thrashing.
Common sense tells me we have the cattle to beat them but just impossible to anticipate which Freo is going to show up.
When has the club not been hot and cold lol? This is prime Freo.

According to their website it was a closed session at Optus. But even then they usually upload photos and clips on social media.
Yep, been checking through the day, a bankwest ad with Serong & Bray, Match day info. Nothing else.
