Big fan of Erasmus, but i was a big fan of Henry too!

Apparently, Luke Ryan very sore at training today. Jordan McArdle on twitter
Would we have to swap Ryan with a taller player or rearrange the deck chairs and have Wagner come into the backline. Clark moved to Wing.

How tall are GC’s backline?

Won't happen but if Ryan is out they could always give Draper a run. Why the hell not? He'll make some errors? Spare me

There needs to be at least two changes, hopefully three, if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly.
In: Sturt, Brodie and Wagner
Out: Tabs, Henry and Ryan?

Hopefully Johnson isn't sub.

He is talking about Erasmus not Sturt. Erasmus got 18 possessions and 7 tackles.

Sturt got 2 goals so understand the confusion but the ball didn’t go down the forward line much in the second quarter. Easts dominated that period. Fairly even third quarter - early part dominated by Easts before a late rally and goal by Erasmus.

Sturt was lively early and helped setup some goals with pressure or chain of handballs etc.

Fourth quarter he came to life. Kicked two quick goals was running around presenting as an option - should have been given a free kick on 50. And another time that Valentine said he was missed by player all by himself within range.

Sturt deserves his chance. His game was well ahead of Emmett. Emmett is a stronger build. Already very solid and muscular. I reckon he would be a decent sub. Gold Coast will certainly know that he is playing if does get in. I’m not sure he is ready yet for four quarters.

Wagner surprises me as well. Grew into the game and is a mature body so perhaps they feel he is ready to go. I’d imagine that they will either play him wing or look at shuffling around some magnets like more permanent move of Jordan Clark to wing or Wilson should perhaps be looking over his shoulder. Walker was far from worst and deserves another game.
Wagner is exactly what we need in that he has pace and takes the game on and from what i saw has above average kicking skills
Also move Hughes back to HBF and drop Wilson who has gone backwards since R1

So he didn't do much over the pre season

Why don't we want Sturt to get a kick in the AFL? He's performed far better in the preseason and on the weekend against East Freo

Never said I thought he was ahead of Sturt.

We know there is one change to the forward line. Walters didn’t train much today, whilst we’re still not 100% sure Frederick is coming in. It’s really not beyond possibility that he’s included along with Sturt.

That is very good news

I’m genuinely interested to see how we play without him.

His intercept marks are great and I’m not sure any of our other mid sized defenders can do that. The other that I think can in time is also injured this week.

On the flip side no one in the league takes longer with the ball in hand. The amount of disposals he gets for very few score involvements (none on Saturday) would be almost comical if I didn’t support this club.

At this stage even if Ryan can scrape through by Thursday for selection I'd almost rather they give Draper a gig.

Won't make us a better team in the short term but some new blood at both ends of the ground might help reinvigorate things a bit.

All it takes is one bad year and the membership will definitely dry up. Attendance is already down.
Mate, could you at least get your facts right, this is a poor false narrative to push your agenda. You're saying whatever to get people to agree with you, bit sad.

Thing is the way they’re talking about Ryan sounds like he’s falling apart. Sore knee, sore back, barely trained, yet they still want him to play??

His intercepts are good but his 1v1 work is shockingly bad against smalls and his disposal is really bad too. You just have to give someone else a go

If Draper does play, is this a case of us finally "hiding" one of our NGA players like we've all said to do for years or is he just super receptive to the AFL environment or something?

Outrageous for a cat B KPP to debut in round 5 of his first season.

We need to cheat to compete really

Let’s ****ing go

I am not sure what has changed with Treacy? He looked pretty reasonable in his first season.
Mismanaged IMO
Showed some good signs in first year. Missed a lot of the pre season in his 2nd year due to groin issue yet they played him in round 1 when he probably didn’t have enough training under his belt. A couple of ankle injuries & then glandular fever. Had some decent games at Peel amongst all that. This season he had a good pre season & played well in both practice matches. Played rnd 1 & covered the ground better & got in better position. Just didn’t take a couple of marks he should have. Amiss had same disposal at a lot less % the following week after treacy was dropped. But Amiss was given another opportunity to settle in & find his feet. Amiss is going to be good. I’m just not sure what they are doing with JT. Played both practice matches through the ruck & played as Peels 2nd ruck on the weekend. I doubt there is a fwd ruck role for him at Freo. What ever they are doing can't be good for his confidence.

I’m a massive believer in him, he’s going to be a jet. He’ll get his chance as I said earlier
I’m also a very big fan back to watching him play for Hale. Also I did watch him on the weekend and he went ok. His touch wasn’t quite there. Hopefully in a couple more weeks he will be. In no way did I just look at stats sheet. But I stand by my comment that I would like him to get more than 18 possessions.

He broke his ankle in his draft year so that did the hiding for us.
