He was the golden boy we always wanted, meant to catapult us back into contention. I don’t think we saw things clearly. A result of desperation when your only useful forward is Taberner

That said I’ve heard so many stories about footy players who’ve produced on field that I tend to ignore them. Unless a player is shooting heroin on game day I think a good coach and culture can overcome
Yeah for a whole two years all we heard from Belly was how the club was throwing it's arms around Jesse and was helping him on his journey.
They would have got better results throwing him a couple of bags of powder after every game and saying 'See ya Tuesday Jess'

I know it's radical but there's also this guy playing for Peel. I know I know, it's a big stretch, but he did kick 2 goals, 18 possies, highest number of tackles, and was a top 10 draft pick that we could, you know reward with a game. Just a thought. But of course not as sexy for JLo as a late pick tryer who also tackles good too.
he’ll get his chance

he’ll get his chance
Agreed. Personally I’d like to see him getting 25 plus possessions. He only had 18. Yep he kicked 2 goals, dug in and had a crack with 7 tackles. But 18 possessions in WAFL playing as inside mid. Needs a bit more of the pill. Brodie got 37 and worked real hard. And was very clean. Some nice delivery i50. Same people having a real dig at Henry last year on the wing weren’t happy when he got 16-20 possessions.

Doing what he did but getting his hands on the ball more and I’m sure he will be in the mix. There were a number of times he second touched/ fumbled and missed opportunity to get a quick HB out. He was almost there and will be better for the run. I’ve noticed that in the WAFL after a couple of early cracking games last year that he is being tagged and sweat on by opposition players. This will serve him well in the future. Many times he scrapped away but as soon as he collected he was tackled.

Erasmus absolutely shouldn’t come in. He was tagged/defended closely and need to learn how to fight it off. 18 disposals for Peel is poor tbh. Fight harder

He has been sent over, Sturt

Apparently Tom Emmett was seen training witht he team today at Glenelg.
Another forweard over there now, putting pressure on Sam Sturt.

I dont think he should come in but if a 19 1/2 year old kid having 18 touches and 2 goals while getting tagged is poor then I think we have unrealistic expectations.

He was well held early I thought and really burned them off the longer the game went. He was a massive reason they pulled it back

He is talking about Erasmus not Sturt. Erasmus got 18 possessions and 7 tackles.

Sturt got 2 goals so understand the confusion but the ball didn’t go down the forward line much in the second quarter. Easts dominated that period. Fairly even third quarter - early part dominated by Easts before a late rally and goal by Erasmus.

Sturt was lively early and helped setup some goals with pressure or chain of handballs etc.

Fourth quarter he came to life. Kicked two quick goals was running around presenting as an option - should have been given a free kick on 50. And another time that Valentine said he was missed by player all by himself within range.

Sturt deserves his chance. His game was well ahead of Emmett. Emmett is a stronger build. Already very solid and muscular. I reckon he would be a decent sub. Gold Coast will certainly know that he is playing if does get in. I’m not sure he is ready yet for four quarters.

Wagner surprises me as well. Grew into the game and is a mature body so perhaps they feel he is ready to go. I’d imagine that they will either play him wing or look at shuffling around some magnets like more permanent move of Jordan Clark to wing or Wilson should perhaps be looking over his shoulder. Walker was far from worst and deserves another game.

Poor is indeed rough. He had a decent crack. Yes he can work a little harder. But I saw him a lot and just a few times he double touched the ball and that was enough for the tackles to come and force a ball up. He isn’t far off a real break out game. Brodie on the other hand definitely gets the nod. Was so clean. Have a look at the highlights which only show about 12 of his possessions. There many times he danced his way through traffic. He was back to his best. I’m expecting the best version of Will Brodie on Fri. McDonald from Melbourne got dropped and played a cracker in the reserves. Came back and kicked four or five goals against West Coast and was singled out by the coach after the game. Hopefully same for Brodie. From what I saw it was the best thing that could have happened after what I felt was a lethargic and very poor game against North.

Yeah. Just watching the game again. Would be shocked if they picked Emmet before Sturt. Bit surprised about Corbett not getting a look in.

Pick 45 or whatever it was is a high pick for a mature ager.

Emmett may have started slowly due to an injury interrupted pre season but make mistake the club rates him given where they drafted him

So he didn't do much over the pre season

Why don't we want Sturt to get a kick in the AFL? He's performed far better in the preseason and on the weekend against East Freo

will teams be announced tomorrow because we play Friday?! Sure they do it 2 days in advance

45 is actually a pretty high pick for any Freo forward. Normally we are looking for them at pick 60 or in the rookie or mid season drafts.
