Hoping for a bruising derby.

Happy to keep going unless there’s a shock inclusion like Bont staging a miracle recovery. Only concern is that we’re a bit tall but could sub a tall out if it’s not working, and most of our talls cover ground well.

Freo are so vanilla. Slow gameplan, players way too deliberate in their decision making. It’s like Longmuir wants to win 80-65 instead of unleashing what should be a decent team.

They are missing Young, but keep Brayshaw/Serong quiet and Treacy on a leash then they don’t have much else. Although no doubt Bolton will have his breakout game for his new club next weekend.

Jackson will have extra forward time next week with Darcy returning. The addition of Young also gives them another look in the midfield.

i Know this is not the thread to say this but has Luke Beveridge been outstanding so far this year or what?
The MC also has chosen well balanced and strategically sound teams .
I'm confident we will beat Feo as i think the coaching/MC side of things is in the best shape its been for a long time.
.. and we have Darcy.

There has been a lot games already this season at 3/4 time that have been up for grabs and one team has clearly ran the game a lot better and won the game. Only 3 rounds in but the running and quick more ball movement has tested some teams out and some have nothing left. The blues 3 times, the cats on Saturday night, Port Thursday night and dees against North to name a few. The extra running we did pre-season has been a plus but we lost a few soldiers to soft tissue injuries maybe as a result.

Blues small forwards had a stinker and it was in part due to the effectiveness of our small defenders.

On paper we may shuffle around Baker/Cleary/Duryea/Bramble/Gallagher and try to figure out what the best combination is but even if a few players were weaker with ball in hand, it's hard to drop anyone who did a number on the Blues smalls defensively.

Darcy MAY be back if they don't bring him back through the 2s but has been out a while now. It does make them a bit slower with Darcy around the ground instead of Jackson so not sure if it will be a huge in if he does play.

Can't see Young being straight in after his long spell and no minutes in the WAFL yet or in match sim from what i've seen.

Fyfe tore us apart last season in one of his few good games, but not sure he'll be back either. He played WAFL yesterday but may need another week or two.

According to freo supporters Darcy will most likely go through the WAFL but Young will be straight in. Fyfe could be in.

How is this for a crazy statistic? :)

If Jordon Croft plays this week's game, it will mean there will be four sons whose fathers participated in the famous Footscray documentary Year of the Dogs playing in this game :

  1. Luke Darcy → Sam Darcy
  2. Tony Liberatore → Tom Liberatore
  3. Scott West → Rhylee West
  4. Matthew Croft → Jordon Croft
:)

There's also no way we're too tall.

English, Naughton, Darcy & JOD essentially run a 4 man rotation. All 4 are on the ground together for only 25% of the game so it's rare we have 3 tall forwards on the ground.

In the backline, the structure is reasonably straight forward with 2 key defenders and a hybrid tall. Jones has the ability to play on mediums if required. We also don't really have any mediums that can play taller with Dale, Bramble, Gallagher & Baker all genuine smaller types.

The Dockers have the following with Darcy expected back (pushing Jackson forward & Voss out):
Treacy - 195cm
Amiss - 196cm
Voss - 195cm

We'll need every bit of our height on Sunday.
