Hunter is a talented player no doubt and with the correct parameters he could become similar as you described. The question is not his talent, but his application, his focus and his ability to stay engaged with the game. By this I mean his ability to continually play as a part of the structures that Bev has established. When he finally returns to the team it is not his offensive weaponry that I will be looking at, as we know Hunter can exhibit this skilfully, it will be his ability to switch from an offensive to defensive mindset and take up his position in the defensive structure. Bev will not tolerate one player not being able to execute this as it weakens the integrity of the defensive zone and opposition coaches are savvy enough to recognise and issue instruction to exploit this leading up to and during a game.Glad to see someone else viewing Hunter as a replacement for Jong.....can't believe how many are wanting the new kids to come in...makes no sense to me......IMO Hunter could be our stevie j....for those with long memories stevie was also a wayward kid with loads of potential...through some misadventure had to be given some tough love and he responded accordingly...see a lot of similarities with Hunter...even similar numbers in the draft.....clearly the club is putting together one of the most exciting lists going around....must be patient and let the young ones develop....
Having said this, Wallis is the direct swap if available. There are no doubts on Wallis's team first play. Wallis will stay engaged, will participate in zones, will contribute to clearances.
