I reckon Doogs will have taken his angry pills before the game, he'll have a point to prove and he seems to set himself up for playing against old teammates. I remember him and Butch just about punching on several times in a Magpies/Centrals game a couple of years back.

Need to start resting some players so we can evenly rotate them for the coming weeks.

Westy needs a break/dropped - Georgiades in (can come back in when Marshall gets a rest)

Would be tempted to rest boak for rocky (then hopefully boak can play through the upcoming block)

Give Lycett another week off

Rest Hartlett for a week and give Garner a game

either SPP for Williams or Bergman for Rozee (particularly rozee needs a rest)

If we are a bit strategic about where we rest players then it will benefit us to play a closer to full strength side when we come up against the likes of Richmond and Geelong, ie. the teams we will be fighting against for a top 4 or 2 position. Meaning, we need to start resting some players now and the Saints and Demons are our best options to give all of Boak, westy, Hartlett, grey, Dixon, Spp, rozee, Jonas, Marshall and butters games off.

Dougal v Marshall would be a fascinating match up.

I think Dougal would slaughter him in the air, but with spoils not marks.

Marshall would then slaughter Dougal when the ball hits the ground with agility and smarts.

Marshall would also lose Dougal easily in general play.

If Marshall gets on the lead up the ground like he did against Carlton and we put the ball out in front of him, he will beat Howard in the air. Best Howard can do at that point is arm-chop. Of course after the grovelling umpiring apology to Ratten, that will probably be legal this week.

I would pick Woodcock to replace Motlop because he is a very clever forward rover who will sit front and square for the spoils and he can run through the midfield and find the ball.

Burton out really worries me
servery underrated.
Beautiful skills and able to play tall or small

Hmm I dont think he is underrated. He is a superstar that we paid through the nose for.

I just see him the same way i see Boak, I expect excellence which means he rarely exceeds this standard and thus isnt worth going on about. Compare that to a bloke like Pete Ladhams for example - to have a game like he did on the weekend is seriously exciting.

Dixon will slaughter Doogs. I'm a Doogs fan, but this is exactly the type of player he struggles with

So this is what Ken has to say. Will they start doing that this week? I reckon they should. There are a few players that need resting IMO, and this is the perfect game to do it. We have some much tougher games to come, and that is no disrespect to the Saints, its just fact.

Port Adelaide will play four games in 16 days and coach Ken Hinkley flagged rotating “seven or eight players in one game” as part of their management plan.
“We’ll respect the competition as best we possibly can as coaches, we’ll pick our best teams as often as we can but there will be some constraints that are unusual and we’ll have to manage,” Hinkley said on Fox Footy’s AFL 360. But our first conversations tonight would be ‘when do we do this and how often do we need players to play?’

We looked at our list straight away and we feel like we’ve got 35+ players who are capable of helping us out over this next four-game block – and we’re going to be leaning and calling on most of those players, I’d imagine.”

I am excited to see some debuts in the next couple of weeks to see what our young players can do.

Injuries to defender Ryan Burton and forward Steven Motlop have opened the door for midfielder/forward Brad Ebert to come straight back into the team, having served his one-week suspension for a high bump in the win over Greater Western Sydney in Round 6.

Young forwards Mitch Georgiades, Tobin Cox and Boyd Woodcock pressed their claims for selection with impressive showings against Adelaide in a trial game at Alberton Oval last Saturday.

Cox and Woodcock also spent time through the midfield, showing their versatility.

Experienced midfielder Tom Rockliff and defenders Riley Bonner, Jarrod Lienert and Joel Garner will likely be talked about around the selection table along with the club’s first draft pick from 2019 Miles Bergman, another eager to appear on the big stage for the first time.

If St Kilda paid attention to the game against Brisbane we could be in trouble. They'll just have another defender physically engage Dixon in the wrestle and then Doogs jumps over the top to spoil. Its why we so disfunctional against Brisbane, we'd set up around Dixon to crumb the contest, but Harris Andrews would then proceed to punch the ball 20m away from the contest.

If we let Howard freely jump at the contest it'll be the same thing.
