If he’s replacing Petch I don’t think there’s much risk in him being any worse
I reckon we’ve been rewarded in the past somewhat by giving kids opportunity off limited WAFL form, and like the post above it’s not as though Langdon/Petch/Ah Chee are locks for that spot.

It's been shown that guys who are on a hot streak or pushing or looking likely can slot right in. These two look like they'd fit straight into the side.
Reason - the attributes they have are the attributes we need.
And look at Pickett for Melbourne. Took a chance and he's doing ok.

Yeah and given how below average that small forward spot has been for us this year we should get someone in who has the scope to do that. Not sure what Petch did to warrant his selection again when we had Winder do that
I think WC should try Brander as a ruck/midfielder a bit like Mark Blicavs from Geelong in the past. May not win the tap but another midfielder when it hits the deck. Avoids needing a second ruck and has an extra midfielder/runner. Leave Oscar forward and pinch hit in defence if needed. Brander has not trained in the ruck so it might be difficult this year but an option 2022 onwards.

One thing i do like is Duggan in the midfield, he has some mongrel and hardness about him.
Duggan, Redden, Sheed, Kelly and Gaff is a good midfield especially with Nic Nat in vintage form. Also Brander I liked his work, using his frame and body to bustle in.
Give Shuey 4 weeks to recover and once we get him and Yeo back, it will be great.

Don’t forget Waterman. He make a huge difference last season.

Zero chance Trew will be the sub, or Winder. Unless Simpson goes back on what he said, he will never debut a kid as the sub. Said its not fair that you could potentially sit on the bench all day and it goes down as your first game.

This Brander situation really bugs me. Should never have drafted him at the time as we well know, when we were screaming out for mids. Now we are discussing him rucking. Perhaps the following week, we can trial him as a small forward. Then some experience as a tagger for an Eddie Betts type in the back pocket.
At least by the end of the year, we can hold him up to other clubs and say, what position do you need filling. We have a guy for that spot.

Did you watch the game on Saturday? Brander is a wing who rotates on HFF, let's keep him there and extend his contract.

Can't see the match committee doing anything outlandish this week.
Think it'll be Xon in for Shuey and then we'll continue with the small forward revolving door policy with Langdon coming in for Jones.

Can't see them dropping JJ after kicking 3 goals 2 games ago.
I don't think they will bring back Langdon, but if they do, it will be for Petch.
