Deledio was an inconsistent lair, who would float in and out of games. If Brett thought he did enough, then Brett would go missing for a quarter.

I'm not saying Yarran will end up a better player, but he's still got plenty of time to turn things around and become a very good player.
Deledio inconsistent? Maybe as a youngster when he became the #1 midfielder and had to carry his side, and all the attention was onto him he'd understandably fade a bit during games. But to say he's inconsistent is laughable. One of the most consistent players at the club. Last year only had 2 games where he dipped below 21 disposals for the season (when Crowley went to him in both games).

If Coll were exposed to small forwards, what were Carlton.

Elliot, Sinclair & Blair kicked 9 goals between them.

Unlike Yarran, they kicked goals when the game was to be won.
Collingwood actually didn't have anyone kick a goal for them that could be described as a 'tall'. Quite amazing to kick 17 goals and not have a single KPF or Ruckman kick a goal and still kick a winning score like that.

Can forgive you not reading the entire post...should have got at least two words in though...

Big Footy critics can be very harsh

If Yarran never shirked a contest; if he was tough and hard at the ball; if he brought his teammates into the game instead of being a receiver/finisher and if he nailed every potential match-winning shot at goal, then he would probably be the best footballer in the AFL ahead of Gary Ablett.

Sure, he has his weaknesses, but he has some good points too

I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Hawthorn jumper.

I reckon it's funny how overrated some players are on this board after they play one good season, but other players have an ordinary year (for whatever reason) and they get totally shit-canned.

People on Big Footy are such dumb-arses. The reality is if Chris Yarran was eligible for free agency, there would be at least half a dozen clubs knocking in his door.

Not only stupid but racist, too. Particularly in the Collingwood membership. Don't they realize they have plenty of non Anglo players in their own strip?

I guess we shouldn't be suprised at the depths of their lowness.

walker had 10 mins of luck in the first quarter, didn't see him for the rest of the game.
Whos Lucas?
Also where was yarran and Garlett in the last quarter.

Walker was no good after he copped a knock to the head at the end of the first.

Who ever is bagging him is dead set kidding themselves. He is a jet, breaks lines and is deadly by foot. Would be in any club's best 22. He was awesome up forward on Sunday but I still think he should be at half back. He is a gun. End of story.

A star. Best player from that draft. I remember Dermott Brereton saying it at the time and i agree with him now.
Mick knows how to make a player blossom. Yarran is not suited to HBF as he will never be a close down guy. Too dynamic and too creative to be watching someone else the whole time.
His speed and finishing is sublime, but its anticipation of what is about to happen and who is around him that is magical. Fantastic player.

I think Nic Nat may have him covered in that draft. I would like Yazz to have a bit more consistency myself.

It's amazing how a bloke can look like he's not running that quickly yet keeps plenty of space on his opponent (though I doubt he got out of second gear against A. Selwood anyway).
Very laconic looking player is Yazz and the few times I've seen him fully apply the jets was breathtaking. Just hope he keeps somewhat consistent (and improves set shots)

Amazing ground ball control and pick up though.

Steele Sidebottom? Beams? Hurley? Nic Nat? Even Hartlett would give him a run for his money but unfortunately he plays for Port so no-one will recognise that.

Think Yarran has a fair way to go yet to be the best in that draft but he's certainly playing very well.
