There’s a difference between being unhappy at placing 5th in the BnF and not playing finals, to wanting to leave and asking for a trade.

No one has publicly stated that he has asked for a trade or wants leave.

Off the top of my head Sam McClure, Garry Lyon, Glen Bartlett and Max Gawn have all publicly stated otherwise.

You should go back and look At what clubs and players say In the lead up to a supposedly untradeable player being traded.

Players like beans, Neale, Boyd etc

Then there are the players in that bucket that just missed out on the trade.. Like papley, Daniher, and Gibbs.

There’s a lot of smoke which would indicate a fire.

My guess is that Oliver is disgruntled over something, Melbourne are confident they can sort it out and satisfy him. Carlton are waiting in the wings to pounce in the situation that he says nope I’m out
But apparently he has verbal agreed to join Carlton :think::think:

Is it much different to players who don’t end up leaving?

Sure, it's similar. Though usually where there is smoke there is fire.

Point is, what clubs put out this time of year is usually bullshit. What other players say about other players is usually bullshit.

Everything is sanitised and formulaic so it's easy to fall back on to give a consistent response.

I mean, do you believe the injury reports the players and the clubs put out?

Theres every chance his manager is just getting an offer from Carlton to get a market feel for next year when hes OoC. Why not start the fishing expedition early? Keep it quiet, no noses out of joint.

Oh yeah, I get that. Just put it about that your player hates another player's guts and is sick of the spuds at his current club costing him a shot at finals glory. Then see what other clubs bite and for how much. No harm in that!

Hey now, Ive never said that. Nor have I seen it written Oliver hates it at Melbourne. Nor that hes shopped himself around. Ive consistently said I dont want him so as far as I'm concerned it serves my piece of mind for the rumour to go away.

IF there’s truth to this rumour the Oliver party has done well to keep this from every person in the media. Would be a huge story if you could get in first. And by rumour I mean actually exploring options outside of Melbourne. Not that he may have a grievance. All clubs would have a player with a grievance that can be resolved.

The "he is worth two first round picks" argument is nonsensical. The value of draft picks is heavily skewed towards the top end of the draft, which is why the points system is the way it is.

Now, draft watchers have Logan McDonald as the likely top live pick in this draft. Would I swap Oliver, the best contested ball winner in the AFL, for McDonald? No chance. So any offer would need to be Judd like to even be considered.
It's mental. Clayton was drafted at pick 4, and has shown he is/will be a special player. There are any number of high end draft picks who have been complete busts - we should know FFS, we've drafted most of 'em. There's just no way, in any rational world, surely, that Melbourne would give up Clayton for a couple of speculative kids who'll take five years at best to have any real impact, if at all.

I Think most people would agree with you.. You would want a replacement not kids.

Plus, I am sure the dees would back themselves in to make him happy.

He will be reuniting with Jesse Hogan at Tigerland.

You heard it here first!

He could just do this
Thing is though there were plenty of articles about Merrett potentially leaving. Given a few had already left Essendon. Clarry couldn’t GAF about some apparent ITKs on BigFooty footy.
All we’ve heard from the media is there appears to be nothing to the rumours. Also from the president and others claiming to have spoken to the club and Oliver’s management.

Damien Barrett said today there is plenty of noise around Oliver being unhappy but can't see demons entertaining a trade.

Oh so because Barrett mentioned this, you think Oliver should come out and say something. Maybe there’s a grievance. But doesn’t mean he wants out. Look at the noise around Dunkley. There was similar around Merrett. Oliver has barely anything. And mainly from apparent ITKs.

Just relax and watch trade week unfold.

Don't be so angry.

I come here once a day and this garbage thread continues to hover in the top 2 or 3 on the board. Oliver will be at MFC in 2021.
And then you bumped it, bringing it back to the top for no reason.
Why would we want that dud?
He's talking Michael Hibberd not Mitch Hibberd you silly goose.

Why would we want that dud?
Former All Australian that has a greater winning percentage than anyone on Carlton’s list that has played more than 10 games other than Marc Pittonet and Darcy Lang.
