No they didn't and they didn't even come close. Loser era for the club. The only player from that era who deserved a premiership medal was Crawford - and he got one.

They played for our club. Often waiting months for pay. When we were a billion miles from being a destination club. I like that they are getting together. Punched above their weight in finals

That Wally Culpitt. What a gun he was.
Not sure if you're just being a dick but Culpitt was a very good player - regularly named in the best players as a defender, then played 2 seasons forward and averaged over 4 goals a game. Returned to defence and won a B&F there. Could clearly play.

Well aware of Wally's prowess in the 40's thanks champ.
It's the name I particularly like, that's all.
Up there with Ted Bullpitt.

As someone else said, sure they didn't get the grandeur or plaudits of a premiership but these blokes were battlers, they fought when we were down, they bled for the club..... Without these blokes we wouldn't be the club we are today.

To quote the above poster "The blokes who carried the torch when the night was darkest"

Thankful to all of them!

If there was ever a time not to put "an" and "alcoholic" together in a tag, that would be it.

I had to read it twice when I saw #crawsanalcoholic. He did what?????

An era in our history worth forgetting.

Having said this however we did make finals in 92,93,94,96 (no huge losses all honourable), 2000 again a small margin to north after winning a final, 2001 prelim goldspink (essendon's era came to an end that day).

Only 2004, 1995, 1997 and 1998 were disgraceful seasons.

Out of all of them, Benny Dixon would have been the most deserving of a flag, but I wouldn't have taken willo out of the 2008 team to include him

I can't really agree with you. Never really won us many matches and his talent wasn't exhausted as it should have been.

Barker when not injured could do anything. Great hands and that reverse swing. Was tough also. Unlucky...

I remember one after the siren.

I remember one after the siren.

Lol never a true consistent match winner.

Ok he kicks a goal after the siren... we forget the chick run down and tackle though.

Anyway, was never a fan. Huge potential, however never delivered consistently. Perhaps I'm clouded by years of depression during that time.

It was a bitter time.

Michael Long was so ashamed by his performance he retired immediately afterwards even though Sheedy publicly back him a spot in the Granny.

Ben Dixon is the one that always springs to mind for me. Was gutted when he retired at the end of 2007 :(
My Mum was absolutely gutted too when Dicko retired. She had a fair crush on him. She thought he was very cute haha
