Umm GC don't even have a pick 27 they have pick 28. Can see us wanting 21 or 22 and meeting in the middle for their pick 25 worst case..pick 22 best case IMO for dimWitts

ROUND TWO
19 Essendon
20 Brisbane Lions
21 Gold Coast (received Fremantle's second-round pick)
22 Gold Coast
23 Carlton
24 Brisbane Lions (received St Kilda's second-round pick, via Collingwood)
25 Gold Coast (received Richmond's second-round pick)
26 Collingwood
27 Melbourne
28 Gold Coast (received Port Adelaide's second-round pick)
But didn't Stkilda finish 9th? Correct me if I'm wrong

Pies have to get these Father sons for all the shit that has happened the past 5 years, they can't potentially have one of these kids go to another club and become a star.

Watching Liam Picken's performances against Hawthorn makes me think what could have been.

Read something on another thread which seems an idea thats to good to be true. (If allowed) which gave me the idea of the following.

Trade Witts for Second Rounder which is on-traded to GWS for WHE

Trade Pick 25 and our first round 2017 for GWS picks 16 (GWS picked up off Geelong) and GWS 15 or 17 or 18 (Depending on tomorrows result)

That way we can Draft a Griffin Logue and Patrick Kerr type and count that as 2 First Round picks to make it easier for trading moving forward.

Trade our 3rd and Jack Frost for Sam Reid (SYD)

Then we have the option to trade out 2 of the likes of Cloke/Blair/Oxley/Williams/Nathan Brown and even Broomhead etc for the points required for Daicos and Brown (Both will be late 2nd/Early 3rd Round picks)
I didn't think you could trade a future first rounder two years in a row?

27 by the most recent draft order, maybe the one you seen was using an older ladder?

I'm ok with this trade, 27 and 40 for Witts and 45.
Gentleman's agreement that with all those picks in the twenties they have that they don't bid on either Daicos or Brown.

This is where future picks and academies make things interesting.

The idea of pick 25 and 2017 1st for 2 1sts this year seems a bit far fetched but if the Giants get good picks for Marchbank, McCarthy and potentially Lobb then they are in a position to look at this. I think they have 1 high end Academy kid this year and some that may take picks in the 30's and they have some seriously talented kids in next years academy pool so picking up an extra 1st rounder next year may work for them.

That said they could also get those picks in the McCarthy and Marchbank deals so no need for us but I'd like to think Hine and Gubby are thinking about how to exploit this.

The Giants are attempting to get their hands on pick 1 (via Lobb/McCarthy/Freo pick 3 + perhaps Jack Steele), Carlton's pick 5 (for Marchbank, Stewart), have pick 7 (our 2016 1st round), pick 15 (Geelong's 1st round via Henderson) and their natural 1st round at 16, 17 or 18.

Therefore Witts becomes a prospect imv post Lobb and they will have plenty of currency to work with. They've already got Adelaide's 2nd round coming and no doubt some other players will net them some 2nd round picks this year.

In the context of a bidding war they can go the lowest imo and definitely have a need with Lobb going and Mumford ageing.

Based on this year where he was putting out career best numbers in the VFL but being kept out of the seniors by injury and the exceptional form of Grundy?

You clearly didn't watch much VFL this year. Witts has improved a great deal. The preliminary final was an aberration, not the norm.
VFL

Career best numbers in the VFL

Do you read your own words?

Was it career best numbers v the Doggies last week in the VFL when it actually mattered? Or was it reverting to Blanc Mange status when pressure was applied?

I think GWS and Carlton have both cooled a bit on Witts
I think the Suns and Lions are the only two clubs interested at the moment

That would be a shame, however it seems certain that Lobb is going so definitely a spot for a ruck approaching their mid 20s to step into Mumford's shoes.

Would add our 2017 1st for Hoskin-Elliott and their other late 1st too

Not sure about trading out of next years draft which is supposed to be a KP draft. I'd settle for their 2016 late first for Witts, get Hoskin Elliot via a Marley Williams trade and keep our 2017/2018 1st rounds to have a crack at a big KP fish next year.

I have heard (third hand) that GWS pulled out once the price for Witts climbed beyond what they thought he was worth.
They have a kid Ruck in their seconds (not sure of his name) they are going to try to develop plus they think they can pick up project Ruck in the draft/rookie draft.
Not sure of the accuracy of this, just the word doing the rounds
