never ceases to amaze me how much people jump to conclusions before any facts are actually known.

I think it's more people are sick of seeing these articles, and one of our players again embroiled in some controversy particularly in a season where we actually have a chance to win the premiership.....

Hence why I put according to some posters. There is video footage apparently and that's been reported by 7, Fox and the HUN. Very accurate I know, although they've avoided too much wild speculation given the sensitivities involved.

**** off, you edited that in afterwards. I can’t be responsible for what you meant to post but didn’t.

Yeah leg speed on a small ground could be it and perhaps team balance with how we want to set up the ground v Brisbane, but having watched Gettable tonight I think McRae loves what he brings to the table in general.

Good luck to him and I hope he takes his chance I just didn’t rate his work on Saturday. McRae talks often about the boys playing AFL footy at VFL level and I didn’t see it from Markov. To borrow your term he was solid ball in hand, but the other stuff I see from our defenders at the top level the intercepting, covering for teammates and actual defending wasn’t as evident. Like the Begg call last year it contradicts his mantra, IMO.
I think it's simply the willingness to run and carry and take the game on. He wouldn't be in line for one of the core defender roles. What differentiates our style of footy is the linking running waves. We need cover for the 7 or so blokes who stream down the ground. He's the most likely in the VFL to be able to step in and contribute in that way. I think he's really important depth for us this year and unless we get very lucky with injuries, he'll play his share of games - at least until Allan gets his running patterns right to be part of the linking chains.

They brought in Richards for that, but have moved him to small forward.

Mr. Simpson! No Mr. Simpson!!

I just saw a 9 second video on twitter with a few snaps of Crisp with captions, if that's what everyone is talking about then wowee slow news day lol, nothing to see there

I thought the same thing so must be something else otherwise I woke up in 1925?

I don’t think pace trumps performance and I’m ambivalent to debutants in the sub role myself. Put the best 23 out there to win and currently in 2023 on the basis of performance that doesn’t include Markov
If we’re going off performance then I think WHE’s spot should be scrutinised before Markov’s. Selection at all teams have an element of who can perform what role rather than who’s in the best form from the two’s, with the sub being one of those roles.

I’m also happy for Markov to be sub fodder for the season and allow the rest of our depth full games in the VFL to press their case for a starting position.

I don’t necessarily disagree that this selection has more to do with McRae rating of Markov rather than the latter’s recent performance but that’s always been footy industry. My issue will come when that favouritism hinders team like Buckley’s constant selection of Mayne on the wing.

The lions have done us a huge favour in dropped Forte, fmd why drop him when it gives them so much of an advantage in the Ruck. Now we can break even or maybe win the battle of the second rucks. It’s gotta be the dumbest move ever or is it arrogance.

They may be concerned about our pace and thought they were too top heavy...? I think I would have dropped Hipwood or Daniher over Fort tho 😆

Brisbane heading for a top of 29 with an overnight low of 18.

As others would have noted the inclusion of Markov as the expected sub is almost certainly about having the ability to inject a mature player who can provide some run and speed late in the game (assuming no injury) if and/or when some of our guys are starting to struggle with the more taxing weather conditions up at the GABBA.

Ginnivan not back in the side?

His time is coming, and it will be glorious.

Great that Markov has been given a shot, can't wait to see him cut swathes across the Gabba.

Bookies have us favorites, because we have so many loyal mug punters I guess, but its close. Weird weather and the biggest home ground advantage in footy (more than Sydney and Geelong cheat grounds, more than Perths 3 hour trip, its two climatic zones north of here) favours them, form favours us.

Pies by 4 goals.

I can’t see how Collingwood or the AFL could hand down any sort of penalty or sanction to Crisp. He’s made suggestions to do lines with absolutely no evidence that it ended up happening.
He deserves a good lecture about being smarter but he’s committed no crime.

Should be at worst an “ anonymous” first strike, in line with what the illicit drug policy is meant to be.

As Ginnivans should have been too, so who knows. Likely he’ll cop two weeks as well.

Guilty of being caught/dobbed in.

On the other hand if crisp denies everything, how can they prove anything. If this was in the off season, in a private home ( haven’t seen it but assume it is), no proof or admission of actual drug taking, and many years ago….. hard to ping him.

If Crisp is out tonight ( and he will be) we are racking up a bunch of handy outs!
I dare say the streak matters quite a bit to Jack Crisp. Certainly too much to give up over some several year old photos he and his family are probably already well aware of.
