AFL injury list: Latest news on injuries and selection ahead of Round 4

One of the game’s best captains will be given a breather, while a debutant is in the mix for the Roos. Find out who is returning and sidelined. INJURY LIST

NORTH MELBOURNE

Ben Cunnington Testicular cancer - Indefinite

Luke Davies-Uniacke - Concussion - Test

Will Phillips - Glandular fever - 1-2 weeks

Phoenix Spicer - Hamstring - 1-2 weeks

Tarryn Thomas - Internal bruising - 3-7 weeks

The midfield unit is set for a boost with Luke Davies-Uniacke returning from the mandatory 12-day concussion break, while first-year chance Miller Bergman is in the mix along with Atu Bosenavulagi and Flynn Perez. But Noble, who has received angry emails from fans this week, reaffirmed wholesale changes were not a viable way forward for a club committed to a long rebuild. “I’ve had a few emails from our fans and we understand their sentiment, but we’re here to get work done and we’ve got to get that mentality right so it’s there every week,” the Roos coach said.

Could it be that clubs have learned to play through his man.

The bloke has been a great player for the club for a long time but as I’ve said before when you are a defender at some point you will need to defend, he has simply not been able to do that so far, so in that sense he should be under pressure. Sure he might get a bit of the ball but when the opponent gets goals, it’s not a trade off that helps at all.

Again forward pocket or not at all. I do think we need mature players to compliment these youngsters but there has to be some level of meaningful contribution
We weren't able to force them to kick it to places they didn't want it to be, and that's where that role thrives. Look at McGovern the week before - just sat in front of Larkey because he knew that's where it was going.

Ultimately I think we fell apart in the midfield and nothing was going to stop the ball coming in.

Hawks also got a PP didn’t they? …….…Will we?

Sure, but my point is he was clearly targeted, and the mids being overpowered is likely to reoccur so it seems like madness to continue to have him in that situation

I didn't catch all of it but he's wasn't wrong to be fair.

We irrelevant on field and definitely risk becoming irrelevant off field again if no improvement comes. The club needs some kicks up the arse.
That may be the case but we don't need some Essendon flog telling us where we are at - especially when they sit 0-3 and bottom of the ladder!
