Winners:
Clark
Brisbane
Fremantle

Losers:
Clark's family in WA

Undecided:
Melbourne - if he turns out to be a dud they are locked into a megabicks contract for 4 years.

Wouldn't be too hard on the bloke. It was made pretty clear to him by Brisbane that they wouldn't be accepting Freo's trade offer.

Melbourne was the only side who made Brisbane an acceptable offer. So from there what could he do? Go to Melbourne or the PSD (which I would assume meant GWS). May not have appealed to him.

Freo bullshitting, wasn't a money issue, he would have signed at Freo for less than the Melbourne money, they just couldn't get the trade done.

He said yesterday it was Freo or PSD

It was all about the money. He would of got max 500k at Freo. Now he will be on more than 800k. Good on him for chasing the money, think all parties involved will be satisfied

Stefan Martin is a better player then Clarke, I wonder how much $ he is on?

Based on 2011, you are right. However, if Clark can recapture his 2009 form, he will just about be Melbourne's most important player.

Plus, he's a bloody funny character. Will be a cult hero at the Dees.

How does leave Melbournes future list management? They have some young stars who will soon be demanding better deals and will they be able to accommodate them?

Unproven? LOL

He almost made the AA team in 2009.

Remind me what the kid who will be drafted at pick 12 has done at AFL level?

Depends on where you will play him. He is unproven as a forward which is where he would of been played at Freo. Where do you see him playing at your club?

You must admit it is a lot of money to be paying.

Sandilands is on 800k a year. I think it was a 3.2mill deal over 4 years.

So Melbourne must of offered a little over that today to get their man.

Hmm not necessarily.
Sandi's deal finishes in 2014 I think. Clarke's would have been 2012-2015. He was probably gonna get paid less p.y. than pav and sandi, but over the 4 years, he would have been the highest paid.

if that makes sense

wow so melbourne have offered over 800k a year for clark:eek:

Slight technicality that Dockers said over the life of the contract. The 2 megabucks contracts (Pav/Sandi) won't be in place for the next 4 years.

Sorry Dees fans but you over paid. He isn't a game breaker, He cant dominate a game Nor can he deliver a Premiership so 800k a year is well over what he should be getting paid.

As for pick 12....ok he may be a spud but he may be the Next Cyril Rioli as well and at the end of the day I would prefur Rioli then Clark.

This deal has just put your team back 4 years at least. His high contract will stop you matching offers for your younger players and will see you older players moved on earlier then needed to free up cap room.

Bad bad day for the MFC if True.

He said he was prepared to walk to the PSD as threat to Brisbane. Pretty clear last ditch tactic re the Freo offer. He went to Melbourne when Brisbane finally got fed up and walked away properly.

It was about Freo not being able to get the trade done and making no genuine effort to do so. Not the money. If they'd been serious about getting him it would have been done days ago at the money offered.

Least informed and or educated comment of the year? We've essentially payed Clark money we've been looking to pay someone to fill a gap. Our younger players are signed on, and we have no older players bar Davey and Green. Neither of those two, if they don't improve their form to AFL standard, will be around too long. Especially Aaron - whose been below par for years now.
