Yeo won't leave. His partner will want to stay put to have family support with bub on the way. Seems like good work by his management to get a few dollars out of the club at a time we have money available, but I also don't hate that this is out there as Reid is lighting it up and working in tandem with Yeo.

Good insight for the young pup about how there needs to be money to spread around to build a successful list and it will be no secret that Yeo leaves money on the table to stay with us, which will hit home with the loyalty and culture cards.

Sign me up if we can get Band 1 for Yeo. That's a no brainer.

Two top 5 picks this year or a top 5, Baker and a late 1st rounder. Winning.

The AFL will make sure their top secret compo formula doesn’t end up with us getting Band 1, I can guarantee it.

Beggars cant be choosers. 3 years 2 mill isnt too reckless providing he is happy with triggers in that deal.

Agreed. There has to be triggers for a 3rd year and $700-800k seems fair maybe with some performance bonuses to increase that if he stays healthy

Those offers coming from other clubs for Yeo seem quite reckless

Three years at close to an average of $1m a year with his injury history is taking a big gamble that he’s put those troubles behind him

Don’t want to see him leave but we need to offer him what’s fair rather than matching other offers.
Agree, seems like a... bold gambit. Maybe after six weeks you'd be feeling OK about it, but after the latest tweak you'd have to wonder exactly what you would get form those three years.

Ryan Daniels is one of the better journos out there and doesn’t have a habit of making shit up so you’d have to assume his info is solid

But from who?

Most likely Yeo’s manager trying to squeeze a few extra dollars for his client from what in all likelihood will be his last contract

Of course it’s his manager.

Ryan said he decided to do some digging and player manager would be the first you’d call.

What’s interesting is it puts Simmo’s comments from a fortnight ago into context when he said the deal was in Yeo’s pigeonhole.

At the time I think most people assumed it had been tabled very recently, but I think Simmo was slyly saying there has been a deal on the table for a while and Yeo hasn’t accepted it yet.

I don’t begrudge Yeo wanting to test the market. Like I said previously, he essentially took unders in 2017 and then watched while Gov and Gaff took all the cookies out of the cookie jar.

According to Daniels, our current offer is a pay cut on the 800K he has been on. Think we need to find a bit extra to atleast have Yeo on his current money for 2 years. Perhaps with a games trigger for a 3rd year.

With the player CBA increase this year there will be some crazy amounts thrown around. 800,000 last year will be 1,000,000

I am sensing we could well finish outside the bottom 3 and might even jump up to 14th giving us pick 5. We need to be big time into Draper. I’d happily take him at 4 or 5 (assuming his development progresses) but give the Crows the message that they will need something very good if they want to swoop and take him. Crows likely to finish outside the 8 meaning a likely top 10. I’d be wanting their R1 plus F1 even if we had to give them out F3. Their F1 would likely be low teens

Saints and Tigers are in deeper holes than I expected.
I would be happy to just take draiper . Non of this bargaining with the crows .
Draiper is that serong/ Merritt type mid that would complement our other mids .

Yep and the FA compo thresholds for band 1 , band 2 ect have also gone up .

We don't get band 1 for Yeo even with a 3 year 3 million offer

3 yrs 2 mill is 666/yr is very different to 3 yrs 2.7mill at 900/yr.

Get your number right.

The former is realistic, the later not so much

To be fair he said in another post he doesnt think yeo would leave for 200k diff a year.

I think 700k to 800k a year is fair, with game triggers for 3rd year (ie. 80% of games played). But i also wont lose sleep if they give the 3rd year guaranteed. Thing with yeo is, yes he has injury history but he still has plenty left in the tank, perhaps a benefit of missing so much of the bash and crash of footy from the last 3 years.

3 years - 2.2m

Yeoy news is definitely a play to pump up his value. He’s going nowhere boys but sounds like we’ve given him a modest deal and he rightfully wants more.. It’ll get done.

On another note:
Adding Draper with our first (prefer him to Jagga, better defensively and better skills), as well as Baker and Busslinger which looks increasingly likely would be a fantastic offseason. Finishes off the midfield, adds heart in Baker and fills a position of need with Busslinger.
All going well i’d say only one more year after this of hitting the draft hard then it’s free agency/trade period time.
Keep in mind we’ve still got Hewett, Burgiel, Culley, Archer Reid to hit their straps.
