Really appreciate your opinion. I had a big question mark on his disposal by foot, coming in to the year. It's still a work in progress for mine.

Marshall I rate higher than the Camporeale twins, just.

Yeah, we're going to end up with a sub 180cm midfield, with the taller players out wide.
I thought his kicking has been good, not elite but of a good standard for a contested mid. If he's had the ball on the outside he has used it really well every time, he tends to handball in traffic more than kick which is smart in itself as someone like Worpel used to kick it out of congestion and he fell in the draft because of it.
My question mark is on his pace, is he a one speed runner in the midfield. But hasn't been noticeable slow either, just haven't seen burst of speed.

Marshall way higher than the Campo boys, which purely comes down to disposal by foot. Campo boys are suspect by foot, where Marshall is verging on elite.

2024 has been quite the odyssey for Moraes. Entering the season as an inside/outside mid, he's played both forward and wing this year, and now it seems that he's been designated as a rebounding defender for Vic Metro in this champs series. The only position he hasn't played is ruck (yet!). He showed some nice footy IQ to read the play and intercept the ball, and his excellent tank allowed him to run off his man to create outnumbers up the ground, but his variable foot skills seem unsuited to playing the rebounding role and resulted in a few turnovers here.

I find he tends to pop his kick, which just allows the defender that extract spit second to close down the player he's kicking too. If he could kick a little flatter, he'd be more effective by foot.

Mid for this year draft

Zac Johnson
Sam Lalor
These two I think will end up better then there draft position both later second round picks for now

Bo Allen WA big inside mid currently having back troubles (Looks better as mid than defender)

Hamish Davis mentioned him a few times could go as a rookie I really like him (think he is incredibly similar to
Nic Martin)

Top end of draft

Finn O'Sullivan lovely kick good endurance a bit slow but good agility needs to get more of the pill
Leo Lombard if he was going to another club than GC think he could be best player in the draft, but
will be hard to play mid behind so many good mids
(think Daniel Kerr he is magic and brings other into the game)
Sid Draper small powerful mid kicking very good pace
Christian Moraes outside more than inside but could change that at AFL level is classy

I thought bo Allen was a backman that has pushed up onto the wing this year ?
Bo Allen is playing as a centreman this year in colts looking a lot better there
Love his angry pills he plays with as a centreman

Length of contract only matters to an extent, and it’s not because of Daniher.

A contract must be 2 years to qualify for compensation and must be atleast 3 years to qualify for band 1.

That the extent to which contract length is factored in, and that’s always been the case.
So, if the offer(s) are as reported; $1.2Mill per for three, then...

1. Band 1 length of contract - tick
2. Pay in top 5% of competition - easy tick (and not front loaded or other dodgy methodology)
3. Plays for Essendon, Collingwood, North etc. - oh F*** it, we're screwed.

You mean she's popular at other clubs???

Obviously at least 1 but outside of them I doubt it.

Tobie was a one man wall for Vic Country in an incredibly impressive display of small/medium defending. He took 5 intercept marks as a part of 13 overall intercept possessions, not to mention spoils, tackles and other 1% efforts to disrupt both his direct opponent and the opposition team as a whole.

I know we need classy midfielders but I really really want this kid to end up at the eagles somehow

I know they're are a lot of ifs in this comment but IF Yeo does have a GF offer from the Roos and we get tier 1.

Would 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 be enough to land Warner?
I have no idea.

Does Warner want to leave?

If he wants to leave, Sydney are going to ask the world for him.

I’m actually conflicted in this situation.

You need a healthy Yeo to keep you competitive and keep the hope going for supporters and your young kids.

But Warner helps you longer term.

2025 is a vital draft.

There is alot of WA Mids with one in top 3.
Then there is Dyson Sharp (a breakaway standout pick 1 whom at min is Tom Green with manic defensive capabiities)

If we can walk away with
1. Harley Reid
2. Dyson Sharp
3. Chad Warner

4. A 2024 mid top mid.

Then we have a setup rivaling Cousin/Kerr/Judd
Who is the top WA mid in next year’s draft? And did he play against the Allies?

If we could trade the pick for a 2025 pick then just offering one of that or our 2025 first rounder along with our 2nd rounder would be better than anything Freo could come up with. All we'd have to do next is offer Warner enough cash to choose us over freo, which we should be able to do with ease even without offloading Yeo. Next move would be to get Pyke to convince Cox to take the reigns from Simmo, surely that gets it done.

Dear Mr Briz,

Lets delve into what band 4 or 5 is in terms of money and what band Elliot is likely to receive.

There will be a total of 22.9% rise in the salary cap over the next 3 years -15.02m last year to 18.44m in 2027. If we add that onto what Ben "I'm a Band 1 player" Mckay received last year, which was 6 years at 850k, that puts band 1 at just under $1,050,000 by 2027. Note it only goes up 5.24% - 15.02m to 15.78m from last to this year. Band 1 is the top 5% of the competition whilst the bottom 30% receive no compensation.

So a rough guessimate/postulation of the bands by 2027:

Band 1 1m/1.05 mill+
Band 2 800/850k+
Band 3 650/700k+
Band 4 500/550k+
Band 5 350/400K+

Appreciate age and contract length are the extra spices that could push down the compensation and not to mention Ben gets 6 yrs and is considerably younger. No spices added regarding the resumes and Elliot has a slightly better one than Benjamin, but maybe because he's older he's achieved more.

At the moment Elliot's been reported to get 3 years at 900k at Adelaide and now North has a 3 year deal that might trump it. He'd be sitting in band 2 but possibly gets bumped down to band 3 with the length of deal and age. If North really has lost the plot he could go band 2, but the difference in band 2 or 3 is going to be neglible for WC.

After further study and for more reference Tom Dodee LY, 26 yrs old, received band 2 (EO first round) on 6 years at the measly rate of 680k pa last year. Yes age is relevant but if Elliot is getting 220k per annum more than Tom, I think that Elliot might snag the same, even with being 4 years older and 1 year less on contract length. Worst case band 3.

Articles I used to fact check:

AFL salary cap raise:

Ben's contract:

Elliot's offer from Adelaide:

Band compensation formula explained:

Tom Dodee contract:

To surmise, Elliot is likely to receive twice as much money that a band 5 pick would receive. Did you not know he was getting these offers? Before you dismiss the reality of the offer, Ryan Daniels reported it, not Kornes or "they won't pick him."

TY AOW
So you went back to April 15th for that comment of mine. Long before any of Adelaide or North’s interest had been flagged, along with the huge offers being mentioned.

That post has absolutely no context to the current conversation, and everything you posted today in reply to it.

Why don’t you quote the West Coast supporters who agreed and replied to that post, and include them in this conversation.

Not going to get a better chance to address this dire list need, also a mate of Harley’s from Bendigo Pioneers. Need to explore options to get back into the draft at pick 12-15 if we keep 1R.

We have no players worth anything of trade value......that I would want to let go. So unless we trade Barrass or Allen, we are left with only one avenue to draft picks..... future trading.

If the word on the street is right, trading away 2-3 yrs ahead will be implemented. For example.....This is where we could trade our 2026 F1st for ports 1st this year. Currently pick 14.

Leaves us with
2024
Pick 3 14 21 56

2025
1st 2nd 3rd 4th

2026
2nd 3rd 4th

Pick 3 FO or sid draper
Pick 14 Travaglia
Pick 21 busslinger
Pick 56
2025 F2nd Baker

Still leaves us with 2025 F1 for Warner if the pipe dream is real.

This is exactly the type of thinking I hope the club are exploring. Another option that might be appealing especially to HoneyBadger35 is to overcompensate GCS for Ainsworth (Band 2) and offering our F2, F2 (2025) and 59 (points) for one of their 1R picks that falls into the Travaglia range.

Would still leave them a pick for Rioli and give them another 1R for sliding from 14ish to 21 which will be eaten by Lombard bid anyway.

Net result is Suns give up 14 and Ainsworth for 21, 59, F2, F2 (2025) and would allow us to keep 2025 1R as we may need it for Warner or really like a top pick.

I'm calling b.s. on the Yeo to North rumour from Caro. It just doesn't make sense. Well it does if they want him to do a Luke Hodge and play him in a back pocket or half back for 3 years, but not on the type of money being mentioned here.
So now you know more than Caro!!!

Gutsy call but not unlike many of your other bold posts

How is calling something b.s. claiming to know more than someone?

I know jacksh!t, but I am saying Caro's rumour "sounds like" b.s.

Nothing bold in that. Loooots of posters here have called stuff Caro has said b.s. over the years.

edit. Want to make a list of my bold posts.

Mid for this year draft

Zac Johnson
Does Zak play midfield though?
The other week when he lined up against the Pioneers he played 100% of the game off the half back flank and didn't spend any time in the midfield.

Zak Johnson 2.jpg
TBH, as a HBF he may put up good numbers but he is far less dynamic an option than Travaglia has proven to be who is a much better mark, better defensively, faster and has demonstrated aptitude in the midfield. Both seem to be exceptional endurance players though Travaglia continues to play at his top line breaking level deep into the fourth. It will be interesting to compare their Combine results at the end of the year.

So Ralph has just said he’s spoken to the Yeo camp and he wants 2 years @750k with a games trigger for a 3rd year @500k.

F**k me if that accurate and we’re holding out for less than that then get ROB back from Essendon. That contract is an absolutely reasonable request from Yeo.

Pic 21 is overs for busslinger, that'd get us a nice winger/running back flanker at the national draft

English and lobb are goooone from wb, 'if' Flynn can have a good back end to year williams+something minor gets busslinger

It is becoming more obvious you and Jack are good mates

Pretty quick retraction

“I call bs on Caro”

Now

“Caro sounds like bs”

One is calling out Caro
The other is adding doubt

On Robo and Tunstill. You posted that they are likely out come end 2024. Will they be delisted or traded? If traded, what would you say each are worth? If undecided, I can always drop Caro a line to see her input.

The top 5% is bullshit. It comes down to age and they have tightened up on free agency this year. Due to his age he would need to be over an average of 3 years in the top 20 paid players in the league for tier 1 compensation.
