I personally would have thought Chess to HBF.

Probably the easiest position to learn the game from while still playing to his strengths.

I’m not sure he has the game sense at the moment to read the play and get himself in the right position.

On top of that, we aren’t using hand balls to get it into a rebounding defenders hands in the way that Collingwood or North look for Daicos/Sheezel to rebound out of D50.

Putting chesser at hb wok just mean we see chesser stuck in no man’s land, not getting used, and probably getting burnt by his team mates and exposed by his direct opponent.

Inside mid is a more straight forward role at this point in time.

See ball, get ball, run, spread.

From Matt Rendell when he was still a recruiter at Collingwood, scouting the U16 Championships.

Article is a good read.View attachment 1946913

Be nice to have a fresh set of eyes wouldn’t it…
This. As much as Simmo needs to go, he did wonders to so many of our players after he took over from Woosha. Team started to fulfill their talent after it stagnated towards the end of Woosha’s time but players like Bunga and Shep actually thrived after Simmo came in

Duffs right. Wouldn’t mind seeing chess play a bit of midfield. Has the tank, size and speed as well. TK at times played hff and we could possibly explore him doing that more and see more chess inside. Heck finding out chess is more of a mid than a wingmen would actually be a massive win for considering how many times we’ve drafted guys and found out out they aren’t mids.

He might not be an extractor but I reckon he’s probably has tools to be a player like trealor. That 3rd/4th mid thats a bit outside leaning, has toe and can run and use the ball well

Ah the good old “it’s the position” problem.

If he managed to average 15-20 possessions per game, you could trust and give him a go in midfield.

At the moment he is struggling and let’s not pretend we have a Patrick Cripps in our midst playing out of position. He isn’t playing FF.

We need to spend some serious money on development coaches, not just appoint ex fringe Eagles players who need a job.
Doesn't matter who we draft if their development is hampered by poor coaching.

Agreed. So far the Shuey appointment seems to be a success though. Come up against three impressive midfields and have improved remarkably in stoppages compared with the past two seasons. Some of that is the availability of Elliot Cheat Code Yeo, I'll admit.

Isn't it because we throw numbers around the ball and then have no one to kick it to? Turnover, murdered on the counterattack.

Lots of teams play this way. We're late to the party and far less polished with it.

What's your preference, that we get our hands on the ball first now but are still learning the outside transition game, or that we just don't get our hands on the ball at all?

FWIW we lost hitouts and still doubled Dogs centre bounce clearances where the numbers are equal..

For all the criticisms our CB work has actually improved significantly. A lot of that has to do with a fit Yeo on both offence and defence but can’t say it hasn’t improved.

He is a young kid making his way in the game in a tougher environment than most kids. Hopefully when Sheed comes back Chesser, Reid and Ginbey will all get stints on the inside at HBF and HFF flank for a bit of confidence and to see what best suits each player. These kids should still be learning different crafts of the game.

I’d take the opportunity of having brockman out to move Reid in to the forward line with stints on ball.

Move chesser inside and Johnston to a wing.

It still gives flexibility to change in game if needed.

We’re losing by big margins anyway. Why not take the opportunity to explore.

Please.. surely we have seen enough to know the coach has imagination or will to move players mid game or during the week to different positions to see how they go. He has pigeonholed everyone so where they start the game is where they finish.

And yes I am calling you surely

Hands on the ball is always better than not, obviously, but at the moment the only players who do are Yeo and Kelly.

Can't wait for the next generation to start picking up more than 15 touches a game at most. Gonna be a long rebuild :(

Trying to find something to believe in. Something to look forward to.

Holding on to a faint possibility that things might change in that regard.

Jaiden Magor 20 year old at the swans SA boy played well on the weekend could be a cheaper option to bring in at the end of year.

22 disposals 9 marks
28 disposals 7 marks

Any track watcher over there seeing a decent young outside mid option we could target in the Mid Season draft?

Our inside players did well last weekend, it would be fantastic to find a longer term wingman type floating about in the two's.

Any Swan Districts fans have an opinion on Jye Chalcraft?
