TB comes back to the club on a revised deal which runs for only 2025 so he’s a free agent at the end of next year and we get Band 1 easy done
Don't mind it but think his age would make it hard to get an F1, they factor it into the calculations.

Waterman to Barass on Day 1 of preseason..

The afl.com footage of Paul Connors throwing his weight around in the Geelong room and Mackie staring him down was good tv… shame the eagles room isn’t shown… we probably haven’t shown up

The deal with Hawks is 4+1. Pretty sure the free agency calc is off the 4 and doesn’t consider the 1 year option on performance

Next year he’s a year older so likely to be 3+1

We’re not getting Band 1 for a 30 year old with a 3 year deal

I feel like keeping Barrass is required to show other clubs we wont trade players for unders however accepting the current offer would be way better for our rebuild then to keep him. Tricky spot to be in.
I'd hold firm at this point. We screwed ourselves with Baker and Richmond knew it. Clubs are going to come after Reid hard next year, whether he wants to continue with us or not. This feels a bit like drafting Reid last year - do it to show clubs that we're playing our game, not theirs. Worst case is we keep Barrass and have a likely pick 3 to offer Sydney for Warner next year.

Tom Barrass' manager needs to throw his weight around in the next half an hour if we're going to get two future firsts.

Barrass aside, there’s still a heap of other deals to be done

Trade week and the AFL stage managing a final hour drama has become a parody

Ask for two F1's and then add DGB in the last hour just to mess with them
Then delist him and invite him to train on over the summer.

That's why Hawthorn are probably expecting us to fold. We need more draft picks. But given how bad the earlier trade was, they Eagles also need to rebuild their reputation.

If we're wanting to be more competitive next year (which is the narrative everyone is saying following the Baker+P12 trade) Barrass will definitely be better than a future first and future second.

Clubs don’t owe anything to players. This “commitment” word is BS. Only Weat Coast uses it and it doesn’t seem to impact other clubs

Essendon - despite being the acknowledged as being th worst club to deal with, get involved in plenty of deals

Same goes for Geelong

Basically what I've said. Consider deleting the post

I get making a stand for Barrass and I'm happy to keep him rather then taking unders and further diminishing our future trade reputation. However I think our priorities have been backward this trade period.
We should've been working on maximizing our draft hand first and foremost by getting the Barrass deal done and then made a stand on Baker. I think we would've still got him without diluting our draft hand so much.
Having only 2 picks in this draft is really deflating.

Exactly

If Hawthorn actually wanted Barrass they wouldn't have tried to sabotage the trade by pulling the stunt they pulled. They have already clearly indicated they don't want Barrass anymore. This is all just a game now where they make sure no deal goes through but do it in such a way that they can blame us.

Clearly has to be a typo.

No way we give them Barrass and pick2ish for 2 late first rounders.
If it's F1 and F2 for Barrass and F3, just ask for Hawthorn's F3 as well, so F1, F2 and F3 for Barrass and F3. Accept that
