Absolutely. Baker wants to come home, Richmond want draft capital, Bakers silence about which club is just smoke and mirrors...... WCE hold all the cards in this potential trade.... just wait till the the last day of trade period and Richmond will come with cap in hand take the unders we offer them . As you said, he does not fill any pressing need with us or Freo, and it does not sound like the Tigers are making real noise about trying to get him to stay....... 2nd rounder at best or he walks to the preseason draft and ends up at North on a rookie contract.... Neither Baker nor the Tigers are going to want that.

Even better idea.

He gets traded to Fremantle and we keep all our draft capital.

Barrass pick (Hawks' first) makes sense if we got something back with Baker. I think there's a world where we could get Baker + 29 for Hawks' first if we overpaid Jack Graham. We'd still have our entire 2025 draft hand intact in this scenario.
In the unlikely scenario that Travaglia gets to Hawthorn's first round pick it would be nuts if we no longer hold it because we've traded it for Baker. That would be pretty deflating.

I don't think we'll be able to select Travaglia with Hawthorn's future first

Baker has looked good in a good team. pick in the 30-40 at best
Yeah he's looked okay. I wouldn't even say good.

In a team that has mostly been competing for flags he has averaged:

18 touches (@ about 60%)
7 contested
1 clearance
Less the half a goal a game
Over 3 clangers a game
Less then 300 metres gained
Bit over 2 tackles a game
And less then 3 inside 50s a game

For the life of me I can't understand why even pick 23 is being linked for this guy. He is an undersized role player if I've ever seen one and who could very well be a lot worse in the wings.

Someone help me out here. Why TF would we give up any precious draft capital for Liam Baker. It boggles the mind.

If Dev doesn't get selected in the grand final as a player and he isn't slightly annoyed then I dunno about his fire in his belly.

I'd admit I was wrong. Staying for a Grand Final shot was a good idea but the irony is not being selected does make me lol

Do we say being a cheerleader is contribution to lions winning a grand final rofl

He hasn't played since round 4 and wasn't even in emergencies during finals. I think it's a forgone conclusion he's not playing in the gf.

It would be surprising if he didn't want to gtfo there.

Dev only played a grand final last year because Ashcroft was injured

There are high expectations that Tigers need to bid on Ashcroft at 1.

27 disposals and 3 goals. He had done that all year and been top notch for 2 years
They won't. It'll be part of the deal for Richmond to get Brisbane's first pick for peanuts.

Tries hard and great off field, just what we need to improve our long term list…

I'm a little bit confused about your prior post, as I didn't interpret it as saying anything about any future picks.
Fair call. I missed a word it seems.

Admire your optimism in using JD to flip our F1 into pick 2 but doubt NM go for that. Although whilst the depth of this draft is the best in years, the top end of both last year’s and next year’s draft looks comfortably better than this year so a likely top 3 pick is possibly worth putting a high value on.
I agree long odds but our LM team haven't pulled one out of the box for years. If
Off the top of my head,

Brisbane's very short in this year's points expect them to trade hard or sell their first to the highest bidder. I suspect Richmond will offload all their junk picks to Brisbane. Expect rich and bris to do some dodgy shit

Carlton have enough to do what they want

GC will need a heap of pts for next year and are sitting comfortably atm any of their firsts are available to be sold to the highest bidder id imagine. Prob get an f1 out of lukosious

Malakai is a lock for this year. West coast could do with a few f3s or f4s to bring in a few boys next year

I'd assume Ess will trade back in this year's draft, just a hunch

Unaware of the Sydney demographic.

All means jack shit for next year if afl tighten their bidding rules (possible)
If I was WC List manager, the first thing I'd be doing is locking in the Barrass deal which I expect will be Pick 13 and Denver Grainger-Barras or a future 2nd)
I'd then see if NM were interested in doing Darling and our F1 for their pick 2. Pay as much of JD's salary as it takes. This is not as crazy as it sounds because NM have stated the are looking to add experience plus they could always trade our F1 to get back into this year's first round. If it works we have 2, 3, 13, 23, 59 & 77 to take to the draft. Or we could try trading 3 & 23 for 6 & 12 from GC to have 2, 6, 12, 13, 59, 77.
If the NM offer doesn't work, try our F1 (probably be 1 - 3), 13 (from Hawks) & 23 for GC 6, 12, & 20. Our picks carry more points value than theirs, and if they are looking to bank points for next year it may appeal to them.
All of these things are highly improbable but I just think our LM/recruitment team needs to be proactive and try something out of the box... at least ask the questions.

DGB is being delisted...

DGB should not be involved in any trade deal we do.

Don't, just don't.

I'd be fuming.

My dream is Jagga and TT.
I'm a Jagga fan, he's absolutely dominated every level he's played at. I reckon this is the toughest draft in recent years because of the quality and depth of it. For that reason I'd be happy to cough up a future first to try and get NM's pick 2 as part of the JD deal, or to use our F1 in an offer with 13 & 23 for their 6, 12, 20. We could use 20 on Baker and go to the draft with 3, 6, 12, 59 & 77. One player I would also like us to get is Alex Dodson, the best ruckman in the draft because Bailey just doesn’t cut the mustard.. Flynn's better but will not be a dominant force
