Like it or not, we’re on the clock with Harley. If Warner asked for a trade and we had our F1 and Hawks F1 on the table, I’d do it.

Take 3 to this draft ideally. Get Baker and Graham in too. All of a sudden we have good midfield depth, some star power, and a fair bit of campaigner in there too

It’s great we are on clock. If Reid was west Australian, we may be tempted to take the slow route. Like this, we are forced to hurry the f up. We need to be winning 8-10 games and showing clear improvement before he signs a long term deal.

It's probably going to happen, just a question of whats he worth and how do we pay for it [and not overpay].

And if it's going to happen, I don't really want to be using pick 3 on some superstar kid when we are brining in up to 4 mature bodies who are going to plug up all the developments spots.

Simplest trade, pick 3 for Richmonds F1. Richmond want the our pick and it's a safe bet they finish bottom 3 next year. Trade 2 out of 3 of our f1, hawks f1 and pick 13 for Warner, go into next year's draft with pick 1. [or 2 or 3 or 4 it doesn't really matter]

Other option. Turn pick 3 into pick 6 and change via the Richmond/Suns Rioli exchange. Then we can offer 2 of pick 6, 13, our F1 Hawks F1 and Sydney have the choice which draft they want to get into.

Will be interesting to see what happens, seems like for Sydney they know they only have a year left then he's off home. Sure they can hold him to the contract but given the farse that becomes and the potential that his value plummets its probably in Sydneys interest to get the best price for him now and be done with it.

Bo Allen at 5. Ewww

I just don't see it

Agree whoever has Bo ( Callaghan) Allen at 5.

Must have pinched Dark Sharks crack pipe.

Eesh. There needs to be a big sign put on our list managers office "Never trade 1st round Picks for Future Picks".

That's just a crazy idea to me.

What clock are we on with HR? He's one season in?!

Give the club some credit for their ability to keep star players on the books (I'll asterisk out Juddy for obvious reasons).

We have 10-15 years left of this guy.
^ this. I am baffled at the defeatist fans who think we've already lost him. What signs - at all -have we seen of that since he arrived? If he'd given anyone even the slightest sniff that he might want to go home it would be 24/7 discussion but it has totally dried up.

Sure he could leave at some point but we definitely shouldn't assume it.

Yeah and maybe if I go outside I might get a cold, or sunburn, or get run over … yep I’ll just stay in bed … forever.

It really makes me wonder where some people find joy in life when the glass is always half full.

Whoops: think I meant half empty. 😩

I have been kicked off of any negotiations with Richmond players and have been told to focus on other things. (AFAIK Baker and Bolton have at the very least a strained relationship)

Not overly happy with the situation.

I will be involved in trade negotiations of other players both outgoing and any potential incoming but my whole board has been thrown about hence me being so busy.

I'll give the full run down 2 days post draft.

Hope everyone enjoys their week, as you can expect i've had a very busy day so far with meetings.

I'll give people a couple of positives
1. Baker is a real team player and exudes leadership and intensity.
2. I think Graham will be a better pickup for the club than most here think and will be a better pickup for the club than Baker in regards to team balance and midfield rotations.
Seeing this article... I can understand how your last few weeks of negotiations have been affected.

Hes OOC next year, his value will be less.
Don’t understand the emphasis on OOC.

A player still has to be cleared by his old club to get to where he wants to go to unless he goes to the PSD which virtually never happens.

So there is not really any advantage to being OOC, the only players who can be cleared free of trading and bargaining are unrestricted free agents.

Selwood who was on his last legs and was playing the midfield bench rotation. Guthrie was never an A-grader. Duncan and Smith were good but probably B+ guys too
JDG ill give you, Pendlebury role player by this point, Mitchell was tagging and well past his brownlow winning prime, Sidebottom and Crisp definitely were NOT at an A-grade level last year.

1 A-grader at the Cats, 2 at the Pies.
Old man pendles would of 100 percent been our best midfielder last year and close to it this year which is a damning indictment on our midfield group

If we ended up with the Hawks firsts this year and next we have a very flexible hand to land Warner.

3 Plus Hawks F1st

13 plus our F1st

3 plus our F1st for Warner and 19.

Either way we still retain at least one 1st round pick to use each year.

That could also work landing both Warner and Bolton this year and next but we use up all four 1st rounders.

That only works if Warner delays a year.

Given the players I think we’d be be looking at in the draft regrettably I’d like to see a bigger Baker trade look like this:

3, 13, 22 (Band 3 Graham), F1 (HAW) for

6, 9, 18, 29, Baker

I’d also prefer we did a medical on 197cm DFA Sam Day from GCS and look at bringing him in free of charge rather than 193cm Tom Clurey. Day is also capable of chopping out in the ruck in D50 if needed.

I hope he waits a year, and then actually picks a club. I dont want to be in a bidding war vs Freo over draft capital, thats how we get reamed. Happy to fight to win him over via contracts and whatever else can tempt Warner
It's called this guy!!!!!!

With our shocking history of 2R and 3R picks I’d rather stay in the 1R and take a stab with some 4Rs and rookie draft when other clubs don’t have any list spots left

We do retain our 1st round pick just drop 3 spots this year and keep 13 to use.

Just pick up additional 2nds.

And the Hawks F1st likely ends up in the late teens or even early 20's next year with the academy free for all next year.

So we have 4 free list spots. Below are waiting on McQ

Alex Witherden
Luke Edwards
Josh Rotham
Coby Burgiel
Jai Culley (rookie)

My gut tells me that Edwards/Rotham/Burgiel are gone and Witherden waits til post trade period. That leaves us with 8 free spots in a weeks time. If Liam Baker is one of them along with Graham then 6 spots left... Surely we take 5 picks to the draft... All up this then leaves us with 1 free spot to be one of Garcia/Carroll/Robertson or if not then it will be Witherden

Man that is depressing reading
