Would be utter stupidity not to take the risk on Champion.

Then again, we are supposedly willing to give 13 for Baker, and saw Nic Martin and Humphries as spuds.

Our list management is the definition of fu*k around and find out, LOL.

Well lets hope our new recruiting team with Don overseeing things gets better results.

Trade period has never been this intriguing for the Eagles since the Judd trade IMO..

Get rid of compensation for FA. Player has served his time at the club which drafted him and he can now choose where he plays.

Crack down hard on draft tempering. No more "I don't want to leave Vic" shenanigans.

Allow clubs access to NGA talent outside of the draft pool. Something like 1 kid per year can be taken out of a clubs NGA and directly onto an AFL list.
Unsure how I’ve never seen this suggested before but it’s surely a home run idea. The rest of the league don’t really have access to these players anyway, all the current system does is wildly distort the value of picks on a team by team basis with the points and bidding, and it’s all a bit ridiculous. How many bids don’t get matched, they’re as good as on the list already, why not take it a step further and clean up the draft market in the process.

Still incentivises teams to go and develop regionally, and if you have two+ in a year and have to pick which one you get for free, so be it. Draft the other one or if they’re not there by your pick well you chose someone you already think is better.

Genuinely good idea.

What happens when a team has a top 5 pick and also a top 5 talent within their academy? They get the academy kid for free and also get a top 5 kid in the open draft? At least the current system makes them pay something for their gun academy kid (even if it's a handful of 5c coins)

What if we are just really keen on Graham and he wouldnt move across the country for anything less than 900k per year?

Who are the AFL to say that we dont think hes worth it?
If you look at Graham and perryman stats for this season there isn't much difference. Perryman is less than 1 year younger.

But if I have a superstar who is a FA then my club should be able to demand what he is worth. If that’s pick 1 then so be it.
Currently the AFL are saying that superstar is not worth much. They should have no say.
As a restricted free agent you have the right to match the offer and force a trade

The Graham compo shenanigans will never happen.

But, **** me if they did... Instant eradication of compo.
Yep I would love to be the team that rorted it so bad it broke the system .

Especially being 2 of the bottom teams working it out to come out both very much on top .

The melts from the rest of the clubs would be amazing

I think now it’s been put out there, it would be very hard to get past the AFL.
Not sure on what grounds the AFL could step in tbh
Not like they can say "Sorry, that's too much to pay for Graham, he's shit, no deal"
And if they object to us walking baker to the psd, then they're effectively saying the psd shouldn't exist. Except it does.....

So who is going to start the 'don't trade pick 13 for baker' petition & send it to the board?
Given they did a complete 180 last year on sacking Simpson based on a poll in the West where a few rusted on old nannas took issue with moving on their boy Simmo, I reckon they'd sit up & pay attention if a petition signed by 10,000 members lobbed in their inbox
Not actually joking. Reckon we'd get 10,000 sigs pretty easy too

The Age rankings/mock draft (https://archive.md/uM2zx) make for interesting reading, esp given they say they've spoken to 12 recruiters or list managers this week. West Coast preferences are mentioned a few times (draper, TT, hynes) so I presume we are one of the 12.
If we are heavily into draper as reported and he's expected to make it to 6-7ish, certainly wouldn't surprise to see us trade back even if it only nets us a late 1st rounder or early second. Late first rounder could be used on Baker & retain 14.
Also it says a lot of clubs rate Murphy Reid only mid to late first-round

I will say, Richmond chose the wrong year to come last. The top 5 or so is that close that there's no huge advantage to having one vs two vs three.

I'd be completely happy to split 3 +14* (If that even happens) to get 6 and 9 or something, that probably suits us nicely even if I do think it quite unrealistic to find a real world buyer. For the points nerds, we'd be trading out 3395 to get 3220, so a F4th back to us would square it up.

Otherwise, I'm team Sid the Kid with 3.

I would never wish for another year of performances as bad as last year, but at least we got the generational talent out of it. Imagine that this year with everyone being so close to level? Ugh.

When this was talked about with Gresham last year, it was that pick would be traded back to Saints. Caused all red flags. If pick 2 wasn’t traded back to us, it would be pretty hard for the AFL to argue. Considering Rioli is going for pick 6. Pick 2 for Weller 7 years ago ect.

How does the system work with the secret herbs and spices? When the paperwork is filed for Graham on this huge contract, how sure are we the AFL won’t just say band 2, knowing what is happening? And we are left of this huge contract with little benefit.

You’d think with Darling and TB off the books we’d have enough coin to front end Grahams contract so it wouldn’t hurt in 3-5 years time.

Would be great thinking by the Eagles and Tigers and 100% should do it if they think it will achieve the outcome.

Richmond like FOS and Lalor by the sounds of it. We are more Jagga and Draper so one would fall to 4. Everyone wins….. if approved

I’d rather see Richmond pay band 1 for Rotham. We get pick 4 then we can trade it and 15 for 7 and Baker. They can throw Graham in if he decides he wants to come so it doesn’t dilute the compo. Leaves us with 3 and 7 along with our later picks. Richmond get 4 and 15 for 7 and Baker.

Going from what Cal was saying on Gettable, I reckon we are Jagga or Draper at this stage and if both are still there the one we don’t select the Crows will snap up.

I’ve not watched videos or games, but from the write ups both of those options are absolutely perfect for us.

I don’t think we should trade back and split, because whilst we may get a close-to-comparable talent plus a sweetener - we may miss out on a couple of players who fit our list profile.

The right talent, complimenting what we have and what we are getting, is much more important than an additional mid/high end talent (early 20’s pick or so). Even in a deep draft.

So ESPN saying Langford finished equal with FOS and Jagga in the 2km at 6:25. That is an incredible effort from him and he obviously worked very hard on his tank this year. Just went up in my book.

eaglespremiers can you confirm that report is correct?
Langford and Jagga have had the best seasons this year right?
I hope we go Langford if it's out of those 2. Bont vibes
