To be fair he was told to explore his options mid season and Richmond only wanted to retain Graham after Baker, Rioli and Bolton said they were keen to jump ship. I agree 2 years wouldn’t have been enough but 3 years perhaps with a games trigger for a fourth would have been a smarter deal for a very one dimensional player. You would hope Hall is plying his role within 2 years.
I didn’t want a bar of Graham but now he’s coming I obviously hope he goes well. Not a great sign given wooden spoon fans are so happy to see him go.

I would be very surprised if he’s getting a senior game in that 4th year. Which is fine as it means our young group has gone past him and he can bolster the WAFL Eagles. I wouldn’t even be surprised to see a Zac Langdon style pay out of his final year but that’s probably a bit pessimistic.

I can see him offering some value to the team over the next 1-2 years, so hopefully his deal is heavily front ended and whatever compo Richmond receive is factored into the Baker deal to decrease what we have to offer up.

Why is there so little interest in Matt Owies?
Seems like he'd be best 22 in most teams.
If Eagles could get him for cheap/free, surely replaces Cripps this year?

Expect end of second round compo pick for Jack Graham’s exit from Richmond.

It is a very weird one.

I reckon clubs are just waiting for him to be delisted. Cannot see any reason a number of clubs don't pick him up for free.

Paperwork approved. Unrestricted free agent Jack Graham has signed with the West Coast Eagles. Richmond will receive a Round 2 selection (currently 42) in the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft as compensation

So much for doing Richmond any favours

This is about right, means we've signed him to a reasonable contract too. Hopefully makes a few on here happier

"Some clubs wanting to slide will target St Kilda's picks and some clubs wanting to come up in the order will target St Kilda. I think picks 7 & 8 is a great position in this Draft."
@CalTwomey

Would we be happy to part with 3 for those 2 picks?
I'd be happy to receive one of them from Hawthorn

If it's just 3 for those 2 absolutely

If it's 3 and 14 I wouldn't be keen
3 and 23 could’ve been an option but not that it’s 26 probably not enough. Would we rather 6 + 10 than 7 + 8? The difference between 6 and 7 might be significant with the remaining top mids of that group. The two picks in a row is handy though too.

So are there any Chad Warner types ( pick39) underrated West Aussies in this years drsft

Just more evidence that the FA compensation system is irrecoverably broken

Band 3 was a stretch, band 2 is silly
I feel like the AFL will react to this next year and we have missed the boat on the Free agency charity era. It would have been a big boost to our rebuild if we had some free agents leaving the club.
