Just because the elite talent seems to be from Vic it doesn’t mean they’re all flight risks. We’ve got plenty from over East on our list. Safe to say, as much as a talent Jackson is, I think most on this board would be very disappointed if we spent pick 2 on him
Yeah but we will split the pick and that should still give us a better draft hand than freo

not nominating a club is huge...reckon we are right in this to get him

Trade down from 2, trade for Jackson then pick up Hewitt who slides.

Hire me, Nizzy

Yup could be on the money and most likely with rioli going give us more draft capital

going to a huge trade period if West coast get this right...we might be able to get some good talent

Of course he should turn it down, just like Kelly turned down Freo's offer.
Why should any WA headed player not be able to nominate when Vic headed players nominate without a mention.

100% they should be able to.

But he would already know the offers? The offers would’ve been with his manager for months. Unless he is going to do the whole tour thing if the clubs like Judd did when returning to Vic then nominate.

I’m saying if he goes to Melb and says he doesn’t care which club so get what’s best for you. Then the trade gets close on the last day and then goes nope, I want to go to the other club….. it wouldn’t happen.

Posters pretending that the ruck isn’t just as a pressing need for us as mids are kidding themselves. I would have Jackson over any of the top picks in this draft, the only lamentable part of trading for him is that ideally we would like to use our picks in the draft and just use our cap on free agents while rebuilding.

You should invent a code phrase before you offer up your trade so we know on the board. Something along the lines of praising Hutchy for how well he is running the Perth wildcats.

It needs to at least be something plausible, nobody is going to believe that for a second

This

Draft does not inspire me confidence the amount of talent in the top 10. With ashcroft nominating for Brisbane for me dilutes the talent pool.... and if the eagles have there eyes set on a local boy....hewitt who I believe will slide ..we could be right in this for Jackson.

Splitting pick 2 and Rioli leaving will give us good draft capital for trading in Jackson and getting good local talent IMO

With Nicnat on his last legs it makes sense for us to go for a quality ruckmen

Would consider Pick 2 and 20 for Jackson and pick 14.

Seems light on for Melbourne but still a better pick than they would get from Freo. We also satisfy the first round pick requirement.
Looks like we over pay - not quite a key forward and not a dominant ruckman. A rich mans Brander?

Most of this board wouldnt have a clue and post on emotion.

Split pick 2.

Say with the Suns for 5 or 7 plus two 2nd rounders.

Pick 5 or 7 plus a 2nd plus Bailey Williams gets Jackson. Anyone concerned about that?

Then use two 2nds to trade back into the 1st round. Even one 2022 and our 2023 2nd.

Still end up with a 1st, two or even 3 2022 2nds and 38 to hit the draft not counting what we get for Jnr. I hope to get Ports 2023 2nd for him. Which leaves 2023 draft hand intact.

If I was Melbourne I'd take 5/7 and ask for Darling. Its the glaring weakness in their forward line, a bloke who can take a mark and kick straight. Dees add Grundy and Darling they would be very hard to stop.

Nic signing for 2 years makes more sense if Jackson comes in. For both of them.

A rich man's Brander?

Did you miss last year's GF?
14 touches and 16 hit outs.

The ruck work against a cooked Martin and a useless ruck in English though…

Would have been nice if he’d actually done it this year regularly against the best.

Not sure he has the size to ever be a top ruck.

I'm worried Nisbett ad the Pieman thinks adding Jackson is the solution to get us back in the top 8 and give most of our draft hand away. I don't think they see how poor the midfield is looking in the future and wont prioritise there

Which of Geelong, Sydney or Brissy spent up big in the ruck? And the other side left in it only started playing good footy once their expensive ruck stopped playing. Also bar last year, the last 10 premiers all had makeshift guys in the ruck.

I'm an admitted Jackson fan boy, reckon he'll be a gun. But paying up big for a ruckman just doesn't seem to be the way to win to build a flag winning list

The rumour was when Blakeley signed his three year deal in 2019, Ed Langdon was about to sign a new deal to keep him at Fremantle. It was then discovered that Blakely was shagging Landon's missus, but because Blakely had just signed a three year deal they couldn't get rid of him without a massive payout.

So that's why Langdon moved to the Demons, and why Blakely has largely been frozen out for the last three years.

Again, it's just rumour. Blakely not getting a game could also be down to the fact he's terrible
Yes Blakely deserves to be playing WAFL but the rumour would have more credibility if he was brought for a run with role against Langdon! Or maybe Justin doesn’t have that sort of humour.

There is a similar story about Sam Mitchell not being able to help himself and his wife wanting out of Perth. A certain Mrs Ex 32 and I’m not talking Bailey.

I wouldn't waste a top 10 pick on a ruck, can easily get serviceable ones in the second and third round, its not that important a position anymore.

Luke Edwards Chesser Culley ....thats a start

Throw in a young ruckmen in Jackson and maybe a young hewitt in the draft....thats a nice young midfield

add Kelly Yeo for experience....not all gloom and doom

Are people serious? Luke Jackson is a known talent and has already shown he belongs at AFL level - should only get better and our primary ruckman is undoubtedly on his last legs.

Pick 2 may get it done and I'd be happy to part with it, probably no more than that. Still think he is Freo bound, though, and forcing them to overspend is still a good result.

Or you could add a Wardlaw and a Hewett. Cant see any of Chesser, Culley and Edwards being A grade midfielders. Chesser more half back or wing, Culley an inside B grader and Edwards a B grader at best.

From you ? pmsl. I'm afraid we have Jackson already. Was told long ago we were having a solid crack . As always, in case anyone around takes any notice, we do things behind the scenes. I for one hope we don't get him. Not what we need.

If I were (insert any club in the league) I'd ask for Darling.

He should be off limits unless it is a grandfather offer. (obviously he would also have to want to move, which is unlikely).

Jackson is very good, but not worth 5+Darling.

If we could get 5+7 for say 2, 26 and F2nd then trade 5+20 for Jackson we would be doing well. End up with Jackson, 7 and 27 (Rioli). Probably get a Hewett or Phillipou in the draft at 7.

All that said, he is going to Freo anyway, and we should act like that and just PSD him if it falls through.
