I'm in the "SPS just is a dead end as an AFL footballer" camp these days. Took a while and gave him the benefit of the doubt, but.... nah.

Pretty much his first year mirrored his time at Carlton. Unable to build continuity. Occasionally does some good things, drifts out of games, gets injured.

AFL Media reported the Demons, Eagles and Giants had all shown interest in Meek, I don't know where Meek's manager is but if east coast clubs have expressed interest then western Australian media reporting it is a moot point.

What?

Understand that but after 3 bad drafts in a row (2018, 19 and 20), I believe we need 3 strong drafts to get a list capable of competing. 2021 was a really good start. We have a really strong hand this year and I expect us to have another good hand in 2023 so I'd rather get it right than get it faster

Can't argue with that. Suppose I just find pick 2 today more valuable than unknown pick next year regardless of expected talent.

2 years for nic ...hopefully its not more han 500k a season.

I got money on williams being the next fraser mcinnes list.clogger

He and Langdon preloaded delistings for next year.

I'll do this from a Freo perspective.

Expect North to get an end of first round compo pick traded straight to freo for Logue.

Would leave freo with pick 13 and 19 in this years draft before any of their other trades happen.
Acres goes to Carlton for pick 28.
They trade their future 2nd to GC for pick 32+33
If they lost Lobb you can guarantee dogs would do a pick 19 + Lobb for pick 10.

say Brisbane lose this week I think that leaves them with 15. 28,32,33 would get them brisbanes first, it should shit it in actually. It's a 700 draft pick premium

They'd still draft picks 10,13,15

If they trade out their future second they can't trade out their future first without getting a future second back.

If freo want to get creative and are willing to trade out the players that want trades then they will have plenty of draft capital.

Something along the lines of 10,15 and Meek should get the deal done.

They get Jackson, have 13 in this years draft and still have a first rounder next year.

This is all predicated on clubs freo deal with not being campaigners with them.

And Bailey

BBBW for two more years is not the worst contract we have on the books by a long way. eg Gaff, Langdon, etc.

Bailey had some decent games this year, is young for his position, and it would cost a fair bit to get another contracted ruckman during trade period who may only be a marginal improvement (eg Hayes, Meek etc).

Nelson just looked like he met Jnr behind the bike shed before getting on the cruise.

Rotham and Waterman were told they will NOT be traded and have to stay!;):joycat::joycat:
I think that photo is the best thing I've ever seen Nelson do. I almost want to keep him after that. Almost.

Don’t count on our first round pick being available for a points upgrade if Dunkley nominates us.
Can you explain to me how you guys will be able to afford all of Dunkley, Ashcroft and Fletcher bids? I just can’t wrap my head around it

Jack was always a physical beast. Also, Over the last nine years players have been getting taller. 192cm is too short for key position over the next decade unless you are next level freak.
Darling was touted as a top 5 pick in his under age year .

Then he didn't grow anymore and had perceived behaviour issues which were clearly encouraged by our club .

If darling had grown to 196cm+ no one would have cared about the behaviour issues and he would have gone high .

I harp about height too often but I’ve come around to the notion that you can sorta offset it if you have a few points of difference. Jack has strength that to match most big guys but his biggest advantage on taller opponents is his work rate/endurance and his straight line speed.

What Georgiades has is that he is quick, agile and his athleticism is incredible. He is also a very good contested mark. At 21 he still has room to get bigger and stronger

Technically, whilst expected to sign, Hurn and Redden are still out of contract as nothing has been announced

Importantly, we now have 34 players contracted of which one (Culley) is a rookie so I see at absolute most 2 of those players you’ve listed getting a contract (pending anyone else asking to be traded out)
I thought redden had already triggered an extension
