Heard a bit of a rumour about a potential 3 way deal. Not sure if it's of any interest here because it doesn't involve West Coast but interesting all the same.
Freo trying to get Peter Wright across from Essendon.
They've proposed a 3 way deal with Hawthorn as the 3rd party. They have proposed sending Caleb Serong across to Essendon for Peter Wright but to sweeten the deal they've suggested sending their first pick to Hawthorn who would then send Caleb's brother Jai across to Essendon. That way Freo get their man and the Serong brothers hook up together at Essendon and the Hawks get a good early pick.
Essendon, however, have rejected the deal.
Apparently they said, "Two Serongs don't make a Wright."

You need to call into trade radio with this one

I'll be very disappointed if we don't at least participate in driving up his price even if we're not interested.

I think this has already been mentioned, but driving up the price for Jackson really achieves nothing. It might hurt Freo a little more, but then it will improve Melbourne.

I would rather just stay out of it tbh, no point helping any of the Vic clubs.

I understand Freo doing this to us, because any win against us is a win for Freo and we know how important it is to get a few feathers in there caps.

I dunno. Also sends a message to Fremantle that they can’t expect free access to homesick players.

Until the Kelly trade and Bell trying to win every trade, we kept out of each other’s business, which was generally good for business.

I would say there are 3-4 teams you don’t want to deal with in Trades, Freo, Geelong, Essendon and maybe Port. Unfortunately we have to deal with Port this year, but otherwise if we can try to avoid them I would.

For the next 3-4 years my priority wouldn’t be attracting ex-pat free agents but focusing on the draft, so I probably don’t care if Freo have first swing.

Focus on keeping our own house in order and forget about Freo

The AFLPA has taken aim at Collingwood in the wake of their behavior clause catch-all for Jordan De Goey. GM player relations Brett Murphy said: “The AFLPA does not support additional behavioural clauses imposed on players beyond what’s already in place …

The more I look at this Bowes situation, the more I wonder what we can do.

POSSIBLE

WCE > 20, 38

GCS > Bowes, 7, 34

Gives us 2, 7, 26, 34 this year. Plus Bowes who can play both mid and back.

Yes Bowes has a big salary for the next 2 years. Worst case reportedly $600k per year. But why not renegotiate a new deal (say 4 years at $400k per year). It means a salary spread, extra length for Bowes.

The pick upgrade from 20 > 7 is worth the gamble alone.
Suns want picks in 2023 - they have a full hand this year already

not being in prison is a reasonable standard to set

I'd be wary being JDG too. Pies have already shown a contract means nothing. Treloar shopped, Grundy being shopped. No surprise they're trying to sign their loose cannon to an all encompassing deal that allows them to flick him and his salary after two seasons if he so much as farts at a funeral.

Apart from the Ebert deal which hurt, when have Port been flogs at the trade table?

We seemed to do remarkably well last year gaining a second for sliding back 2 spots. We gave back a 4th to get Clark which was noise.

I am sensing they have been pretty decent in the last 5 years.

The problem is that de Goey is likely to be at a mates funeral that he was holidaying with.

I have no problems placing behaviour requirements in his contract. The guy is a proven loose cannon - good footballer but a liability.

By all means add something for being shopped around. The Pies have proven to be less than loyal so add in a loyalty clause.

Seems like Collingwood either take out the behaviour clauses or lose degoey for nothing as they are getting mcstay which would cancel out a lot of their compo .

Classic case of Collingwood wanting their cake and eating it too.

Wonder if degoey leaves they keep Grundy?

They were also pretty chill with trading Ah Chee to us from memory?
