Yeo back to the midfield, Jones back to his forward/mid role, Hough/Chesser to the wings/midfield?
Jones looked a lot better in 2021 when he was assigned an attacking role. His half back stint might give him more confidence playing forward too. If west does survive the cut, more than happy to give him the sacrificap defensive forward role

My post is still valid - there's a reason why he wants out even as someone who has the potential to be a top 10 mid.

Being at North isn’t a good enough reason to want out of North?

From the Drafts thread (cbf combing the Melbourne board):

He may well turn out to be a dud but he certainly has more attributes than just being a pacy half back flanker. We will have to wait and see...
Thanks for the info. Interesting. I suspected his best role might be as that sort of fourth forward since it is pretty standard to park a lightning fast player who shits himself with ball in hand on the half forward flank where his turnovers are less damaging (i.e. Petch). Our HFF stocks were once our strength, but are now looking like a liability, so he might offer some flexibility here.

And also a good point about being a long kick. That could go some way to mitigating any substandard decsion making and skills. Give him a mandate to take the game on and pump it long in an attempt to beat or simply catch out the opposition press. I'm not convinced it's a good tactic, but at least it is a tactic.

Loser mentality. Figure out who the frogs are before you start handing out kisses like they free
Wait for them to be named prince or better yet king, then trade for them and have everybody cry about overpaying for Tim Kelly I mean for a generic prince, could be anyone.

I always defer to other club posters when it comes to assessing their player - after all, they would've observed them for far longer than us.

But I think we can all agree it's unlikely he'll reach anywhere near elite level AFL player, but for the cost of no draft picks lost and paying his salary (which judging from the compensation pick given to Melbourne is not much above base wage) he could be valuable. Maybe he's earmarked to slot into the HFF since Rioli is leaving? Who knows.

Pick 2 should be off the table, both as a trade or a split.

If the Roos take Cadman, we take Wardlaw.

If the Roos take Wardlaw, we take Cadman.

This ain’t a ‘build an average’ squad competition. It’s a take the best players possible competition.

Could be sheezel also based on the Pieman's press conference.

Was asked point blank about the go-home factor and said it wasn't a consideration we will take best available.

Personally I don't see how Tsatas fits that bill when 2 of Wardlaw, Cadman and Sheezel will be available at 2 (3 after Ashcroft).

Just because a frog is hopping around wearing a crown, doesn’t make him a prince. The wise men say “that isn’t a a prince, it’s a frog. It’s eating flies for crying out loud“ and then move on and find their own prince instead

Tarryn Thomas is well worth a look. The guy not only has silky skills and moves well but is also a good size and a ferocious tackler. There is plenty to work with there.

I'm not sure what has gone wrong for him at North (apart from being at North in the first place), but they have clearly preferred to work their way back into contesting matches by playing a very solid, contested starting midfield (i.e. Sympkin, LDU, JHF, Cunnington, et.) so maybe there was no space for a more refined and somewhat more difficult to integrate midfielder.

This is why it's gone wrong:

Would not touch, Gold Coast can have him and good luck to them dealing with his baggage.

So do I and a brief read of the Melbourne board solidified my opinion haha.

I agree with your assessment, but at risk of going around in circles, I don't think he warranted 3-years. We have been restrained by a lack of cap flexibility in the past few years due to poor list management, and if the past few trade periods have shown us anything, it's that cap flexibility and list spots are becoming increasingly more valuable (to point where they are exchangable for good picks). It's not hard to imagine this current Eagles management being slow to recognising this changing trend in the footballing landscape as well.

No, you're entitled to your opinion, would have preferred just 2 years myself but meh not a big deal if we have to carry a now certified clogger in 2025 on near base wage. We won't be hard up on the salary cap for the next three seasons, let's be honest, even if the cap gets tightened all clubs will be suffering too.

Thanks again for the info. That is certainly not a good look. However I'm not sure that a lack of maturity is a dealbreaker, particularity given the dysfunction of his playing environment (he's not the only young talented North Melbourne midfielder to visibily display a lack of motivation on the field). Given our dearth of young midfield talent, he could be worth a crack given if the price is right and if we believe we can address these issues. But it is likely to more trouble than it is worth.

Kisses, Frogs and Princes?

This time of the year always brings the goods.

Biggie demonstrating his smooth manner and irresistible charm, as he moves in on the Princes, trying to sneak into fourth base . ;) :greenheart:

A shit house attitude is what happened

Tarryn Thomas is ****ing electric, if he performed anywhere near his potential in our team next year we’d be a top 8 team.
