The absolute worst part of this mega dooper sooper trade is the fact that GWS will call out Cadman at 1 and Brisbane will get away with murder and only have to bid on an Ashcroft bid at 2 now

I'm quite happy with the trade, Cadman was probably my pick at 2 but once GWS jumped the que it became Sheezel.
But if someone said you could get two very decent mids at 8 and 12 or Sheezel, I'd bite your hand off.

I just hope we take the right players now...

The additional trade capital we added for next year gives us some serious points fire power to trade up to hopefully a first rounder. 2 x F2 and 2 x F3, plus our F4. Gold Coast have two highly ranked academy prospects for next year.

. Yes we got a dud in Brander but luckily we had the extra picks . Ryan was instrumental in our flag tilt.
Also traded in Ahchee in 2017
Swapping our 3rd round 2018 for Ports 2018 4th . Winning the flag in 2018 made that trade sweet . Happy memories of pick splitting

Well we have at least positioned our selves for a very high draft pick in 2023 to get a top gun key forward. The vanilla midfield will just have to struggle on.

We should factor in that we don't like drafting midfielders so we could be eyeing off defenders or forwards and then sneak in /Midfield on the players description after we draft them.

Maybe we were... but with 666 defence starts in the middle... hopefully they've learned a lesson.

Nah the bird brought us up later.... was all a bit meh though. Ralph said we should have used pick 2 for Jackson. That was about it....

I would assume Hurn & maybe West the only other players we'll re-sign.
So as it stands we'll have 4 picks in the ND and 3 more spots for the rookie draft & SSP players.
I still would've liked the flexibility of being able to make an extra selection in case there's a slider but unfortunately pick 40 is gone.

Is it quality though? WA weren't great this year and Vic Metro/ Vic Country where the clear best two teams.
I watched a couple of Hewetts WAFL games live. Seemed to just jog from contest to contest without getting involved too much or show too much intensity. Ginbey has a bit of mongrel but doesn't look to be the most skilled player.
Hopefully I'm wrong because I really don't want to have to watch Wardlaw/Cadman become stars.

Same, I watched him live and wasn't overly impressed. Played an outside seagull kind of game and just jogged around most of the time, gave me Masten vibes.
Hope we haven't got our blinkers on and are just focused on the WA guys, there will be better players available at 8 than both of them imo and probably at 12 as well.

I find it interesting the AFL site has the "MEGATRADE" listed as 4 different deals, the third being we traded Rioli to Port for 8, F2, and F3.

I figure after that was lodged we should've just backed out and not traded 2.
