Just on Wardlaw.

Did his persistent soft tissue injury’s play a part in us not grabbing him at pick 2? Or was it more the go home factor and we just dint rate him that much more highly than the 5-15 range?
Rumour is he and Sheezel told West Coast and GWS they didn’t want to move interstate.

And the rumour originated out of GWS on the draft combine weekend, before Adrian Caruso had his say on Trade Radio the week after.

Clubs should publicly name names.

Draft tampering bullshit.

I think that is a fairly astute read of the situation
FWIW I think the club did well with what they had to work with during the trade period

Rioli,2,40 for 8,12, Ports future 2nd and 3rd

Initially thought we may have done better out of splitting pick 2 but once the dust settled and looking at what players will be available at 8 & 12 I can see why the club did the trade

A F2 for Rioli is fair and as much as we could realistically expect with the prospect of losing him in the PSD looming. Then a F3 for pick 40 that seemed surplus giving us another pick next year was tidy

Given the nature of this draft and a very even group of players those picks 8 and 12 should net us two very good prospects. And I don’t think we we’re going to get a better pair of picks by trading down

Feel like all 4 clubs got what they wanted out of the mega trade and each did better than they would’ve had trades been done individually

And a question for you - do any of West, Winder or Trew have a 2023 contract?

Imagine how feral the media would be and how quick the AFL would act if the best player in a draft told recruiters he wanted to stay in WA and we had pick 5?
Wheatley looking straight at the camera.... "It's SO wrong and the AFL NEED to put a stop to it before others start doing the same, It compromises what has to date been a totally fair system".

What about a 6 year inability to request a trade? Exxluding extenuating circumstances like an illness in the family.

Nice. Butter them up then hit them with the question no one will answer.

This is what happens when Miguel stops flirting with Kate on Twitter.

Radical idea but maybe if they pull that card then ban then from that years draft. Draft tampering is against the rules so if they are openly breaking that rule and telling clubs they won’t go interstate maybe is time to enforce that rule.

Make sure all interviews are recorded with the AFL running over them making sure the rules are being followed.

Not sure this would actually ever work though can imagine it would open a can of worms.

I didn't say that. I said WC are aware of what is happening. If there was a player who was clearly better they would be selected no doubt

So the homesickness factor is palpable, but also Wardlaw (etc) was seen by us as not outstandingly better than later options?

Is that a fair read?

Also this is probably hopeless but I feel like being explicit - we taking Ginbey or what?

Have any media heads actually raised the issue of draft players saying it during interviews, have any clubs called it out and raised it with the AFL, or do we need to wrap our arms around said players because of the mental health BS?
