Contract status of all players now fully updated

Fair play, I thought initially from the way they were reporting on him here and him possibly going north that he was out of contract. My bad, I should've checked.

I know their is a cap squeeze at GWS, but isn't it by reports that Taranto, Hopper, Bruhn and Hill want to leave. So not really moving on those players, it's them choosing to leave. So if they did lose all of those players, they'd have cash.

I don't have one, but it was more from Tigers perspective that I make the initial comment, if a club was interested in him it would be a good time to move him on.

  • Club can do a quick replenishment of draftees.
  • Move salary off their books (not uncommon these days to pay part of salary to move the bulk of it off your own)

Anyway, I don't feel passionate enough about this topic to really keeping going with it. Initial comment was from Tigers perspective for regrowth.

I know for one Hopper didn't want out. The others AFAIK are all requesting to leave.

Rioli for Ports future 2nd.
We then have some currency in 2023 in a supposedly stronger draft, or to trade to GC for one of their 2022 1st round picks.

I say do it!

GC are likely to have 5 & 7, and there has been a lot of speculation about them trading their 2nd rounders for Brisbane's pick (14ish).

I'm not sure why they would do that though, assuming they keep 5 & 7 as they will probably only use 2 picks plus upgrades/academy etc.

So we might be more likely to trade with GC for their 2022 2nd rounders (25, 32, 33 currently). I'd guess that (and this is assuming we trade Rioli for ports future 2nd), our future 2nd would net 25 + 33 at a minimum. We may be able to get all 3 picks if we add our F3rd.

TBH it probably needs a 3rd club (Brisbane look most likely) who want lots of points this year - as if we were to end up holding 2, 20, 25, 33, 38 (plus maybe 32 as well) that is too many in the same range.

Rioli for Ports F2

Brisbane lose: 14, Dev, F2nd gain: 20, 32, 33
WC lose: 20, F2 (wc), F3 gain: Robertson, 14, 25
GC lose: 25, 32, 33 gain: F2 (wc), F2 (bris), F3 (wc)

Dev valued around pick 34, to Brisbane (at a cost of around 45 for us). GC pretty much shifting points to next year for academy players (taking 5 + 7 to the 2022 draft)

Watched him yesterday closely, and Fagan only gave him tagging roles. Didn't trust him to take a ball winning midfield position, like Lyons usually gets.

As a tagger I thought he was exceptional BTW, he kept the Meatball very quite and the only time he got off the chain was when Dev went to Bolton for 5-7 minute period late in the second. After the meatball fell apart, he went to Cotch and basically wiped any impact he had from the game.

Yep, I was lukewarm on him before last but I liked what I saw

Still wouldn't pay more than 38 though

Warner has had a better season. Bolton is a very inconsistent player.

Brilliant at times, but his disappearing act in games, like last night's full Houdini is why I'll never think he's worthy of the Superstar label attached to his name.

Up till HT I felt as if almost every scoring chain for Richmond had gone through him at some point, and then nothing for the second half

If anything, it was Pickett who actually lifted to try and get them over the line, along with Nank who had a crack all game. Dusty, Cotch, Bolton were invisible.
Age does weary them

Lions massive losers there.

Basically giving up 14 for a 2nd rounder?

Yep noticed he was very defensive in the set ups. Which is fair enough when you look at the other play makers already playing every week. Takes time for chemistry to develop.

Had to shake my head reading some posters take on Dev's game last night and not getting enough ball.

OOC Saints. I think they are keen to make cap space so a decent offer could be enticing
Zak Jones - God no please
Ben Long - If we want a depth player who gets rubbed out every third game
Tom Highmore - Dominates the VFL, but we realistically don't need yet another loose checking backline tall
Tom Campbell - No point chasing depth
Ryan Byrnes - Is stiff not to play more games. Is a balanced mid and can play off a flank too
Mason Wood - North didn't even want him. Kicked a few goals now that it's contract time:thumbsdown:
Jack Bytel - Perma-injured but if comes good could be a handy rotation in the guts. Likely done at AFL level
Jack Higgins- Would be a handy pickup and can un through the middle ass well as fwd. Is probably one who wants to stay in victoria
Jarrod Lienert - Port didnt even want him:thumbsdown:

We gonna start the delisting process next week?

So much dead wood

I will tread very carefully, but I cannot understand why Jameson would be re-signed under any circumstance.

….well he’s a 22 year old, skinny young tall who was drafted as a long term prospect and played some decent footy in his 7 games this year, where he was thrown into the deep end and required to play at various spots around the ground.

He might not make it but he’s shown enough to warrant another year.

I'm very sorry, but at no stage, in any match, did he demonstrate the skillset, talent or skill level necessary to have a career of any substance at AFL level.

From a distance, this looks like a contract for a party simply on height, rather than any other discernable skills.

Basically he's our Matt Taberner
