On night 2 I'm hoping for:
Pick 23 Harry Barnett (backup Olli Hotton)
Pick 30 Coby Burgiel (backup Charlie Clarke)

I'd be happy with any combination of them.
Barnett potential NN replacement, Clarke takes Willie's spot or Cripps' in the future.
Burgiel & Hotton both classy mids, can't have enough mids for our rebuild.

Stoked so far

Burgiel or George next pick prefer those two over Ryan preference is Burgiel beautiful kick of the footy
and very fast

Last pick up Kaleb Smith

Then our two NGA perfect draft
Haven’t seen anything in Smith, don’t rate him. The 4 I mentioned earlier are better options.

If you keen to stay with WA prospects, Hagan has the most decorated resume, I’d even draft Ryan Newick from Subiaco before Smith. Newick only really been mentioned by Futulista, but he’s a gun!

I’d love Barnett with one of our second round picks tomorrow.
GWS
West Coast
Bulldogs
Essendon
North
Sydney
Collingwood
West Coast

Barnett
George
Hotton
Hustwaite
Burgiel
Hayes
Clarke
Cowan
Ryan

Among the players still left

Guaranteed of two good players with our next picks

Have the option of trading back 26 for someone like Smith if we want to try for another future pick
Strategy would be to select Davey to take Essendon out of action between our picks.
I can understand the desire for Barnett or George (if we want to take a risk) but personally I really like the look of Hustwaite and would be stoked to take him and Hotton/Burgiel with our next two picks.

"Hai gaiz, Ruben here. I'm spewing my club, Fremantle, had no picks so unfortunately I've had to end up at the losers down the road, but cheers for letting me stay in WA. At least until your club folds.

Thanks gaiz"

At least we'll fold with a moderately full trophy cabinet.

I have seen plenty in Smith, first of, one on one he is very good has good core strength.
He is super quick takes the game on, breaks lines and opens up the game
His kicking is very good
He is capable of playing round 1 next year

He makes guys look like their standing still in his highlight video. I like it!
You can see he's a lot bigger than Johnson (who some have compared him to). Faster too.

Imagine him and Hunt running out of defence.

So is everybody glad that we swapped pick 2 to end up with these two or would you rather we had kept it?

Sheezel was taken with our original pick and he is who I wanted at that pick. This board had a raging boner for The Poo and we could have taken him, so I'll be keen to see how all their careers pan out.

Sheezel ended up and Norf and Poo at St Kilda, so Ginbey and Hewett are already leagues ahead.

I wish we took Philipou over Ginbey with our first. Had we done that and STILL gotten Hewett I'd have wet my pantaloons with excitement.

That said, the alternative wasn't too bad, Ginbey was the best option still available other than FIGJAM, so it's fair to say the pick swap was a reasonably good one.

Except giving Port pick 40. That should have been kept.

I was unimpressed with it at the time. I believe my words were that it was fair value but what was the the point.

Seems like with the fullness of time it's obvious that the right decision was made. And not only was the trade a good idea, they look to have found two very good prospects with the picks.

I'd like to say I won't question the recruiting team next time they make such a headscratching move, but I absolutely will.

Exactly what Im hoping for.

Two of Barnett, Clarke, Hotton or Bergeil would be perfect.

Szybkowski at 29 would be a pretty decent consolation pick if all gone.

Old RTB is going to love Phillipou the same way he did Fyfe. Seems like a similar sort of character

I think he’ll be a good player, probably better than Ginbey, but also risks being a bit of a Kent within the playing group

I’m not too fussed we overlooked him

Won't lie, I think our team is absolutely awful, likely another couple of years sitting at the bottom of the toilet bowl (ladder).

But the thought of Chesser actually playing a game... along with Ruben (if he isn't in defense) and bad boy Hewett joining Culley in the mid for 2023....

Add to that, everyone's favourite, Sheed, and campaigner Yeo back...

Could we beat North in 2023 or am I getting ahead of myself?

I'm more than happy with the pick 2 trade. You can't view it objectively - the blokes that we would have drafted are massive Vic Metro mummies boys and would have left. This option is far far better for us.

We've added pace, size and more than a bit of mongrel to our midfield and we desperately needed it.

Ginbey may end up a bit of a Beau Waters enforcer type and I'd take that atpick 9, Waters was pick 8 if my memory serves.

And Hewett....... my son and I jumped off the couch when his name was read out. Mid / fwd with some pace, size and swagger. Thank goodness we didnt go Allan after Ginbey.

So far so good.

And reading those posts between the picks in the draft day thread, lol, what a laugh. Expected no less......

Add Winder and Trew , O'Neil, Clark , L Edwards and we have a solid base ...we need talls now and a small forward in Dewar or similar. .

No more mids until next draft we're gone too far the other way !!
