If we grab George with 20 we can place him straight into the LTI list which creates a spot for a SPP player even if we use all 5 main draft spots & both rookie spots.

We aren’t challenging next year, we get a highly talented player in George and also a look at another player we might rate. Worst case is we just leave that spot open for the mid season draft

Got a feeling we won't use our 5th pick.

ND vs RD selection, difference is worth a fair bit of coin. Probs 50k off the top of my head.

Our 5th Selection would be one of the very last in the ND, and we have the 2nd pick of the RD so very high chance you'll get the same player anyway, if you're keen.



Plus side to that is we'd be saving a list spot for the mid year draft, I believe?

Depends on whether we think a bid will come for Dewar and, if so, whether we intend to match it

I’m assuming we’re holding that 5th pick to match a bid just in case one comes

Assuming it doesn’t then we use our 1st RD pick on a live selection, then round out our list by redrafting Winder and Trew as rookies*

If a bid does come then we match with our 5th pick, take a RD pick and only one of the retreads

There’s a possibility that if someone we really like slides we use that 5th pick and risk missing Dewar. In this situation again one of the retreads is looking for a new job

*Watching training today I’m relatively convinced our intention is to redraft both but have kept our options open just in case something unexpected happens like a Dewar bid or a genuine slider

Was almost over the moon when the Poo got to our pick! And we went Ginbey.i think it was a very close call. The poo ( my 1st pick/Hewitt) was very impressive and geez he’s a big boy and I was gutted. I haven’t seen much of Ginbey and a lot of people were against him. But looking at the glass half full. He’s a
monster and a monster with grit and speed. He’s here now and there’s no looking back.In packs he heads for daylight and at speed and aggressively. It was Poo outside or Ginbey inside.I realised with two preseasons under his belt we may have P Cripps on steroids.
The beautiful thing is we got Hewitt with little fanfare.We unleash Culley and Ginbey and the best of the lot just sits quietly and does his thing with two thugs clearing his path.We are back!!!

The guy sitting in the middle (fourth from the right) is named Adam.
He's a mate of mine, well we're mates sometimes. We've been a little bit cold in the last 18 months, but we were close knit about 4 years ago.

I'm really not sure we should redraft Winder or Trew. They're both midfielders, and we now have better on our list. I'd draft for needs - whichever we still need out of a ruck, small forward or lockdown defender.

Yeah spot on Beets, but surely nothing comes AFTER pick 64? Perhaps a couple late selections, but you'd think everyone is done at that point, particularly in a weak draft.

I think Port will have to use their pick 65 as it would only be their third selection, but other than that it would be close to finished.

So in a nutshell if we get to pick 64 without a bid on Dewar, we might as well pass. After all, our first RD selection is only a few "live picks" later.

Twomey speculated that Sydney’s bids may have been motivated in part by payback. Apparently GWS have bid on Sydney academy prospects several times. And the pick Sydney bid on Michelanny was a pick they got for Dawson. Funny stuff if true.

It's not true. Swans already flagged Michelanny and more than a few clubs knew about it - but thought it would be via our 2nd first rounder not our first.
Rowlston was anywhere between 15-30 but as homegrown boy of course we would bid on him. GWS stupid to think we wouldn't.

Loved the pettiness of Sydney making GWS bid their pick 17 on their academy player at Sydney's pick 16 to cost them the chance at getting him at a pick much later....I wish more clubs did this instead of walking these players to their clubs for next to nothing. Loved it.

Sydney wanted Konstanty and so did GWS .

Sydney bidded so GWS would lose their next pick and they could then sell their pick to the hawks and still get konstanty

Very tactical but it may bite them in years to come .

The bid probably cost us a chance at getting Jones at pick 23
