Or, for example in the context of an online forum, an opportunity to anonymously sling sh*t at someone who is not in a positon to defend themself.

Yes, intent matters. But usually the one making up and applying the nickname is not the best person to decide whether it's mean-spirited, inappropriate or welcome.

But that's the internet for you.
Whatever happened to the ole Sticks and Stones thing.

He did have Covid and then was injured on and off for the entire year.
I don't think he ever was close to 100% fit at any stage, either match fit or aerobically (Covid recovery). It looked like the club was asking him to play when he wasn't ready for it but was the least injured of the walking wounded.

This year will be …
get injury free and fit over the off season,
turn up for round 1 at 100% ready in body and mind, about time
show he's good enough (or not),
get a new contract (or be delisted).

Basically it's make or break, last chance saloon etc..

its nice to see a balanced read on Trew. There seems to be a lot of animosity towards his resigning. As above the poor buggar hasn’t really had a decent run. Let’s give him a year to (hopefully) get fully fit and then dish out the judgements.

Still absolutely zero from our first selection of last year's draft.

I'd hold off on jerking Rohan until we've actually seen if Chesser is a bust or not.

2022 draft on the other hand..
If I was Chesser, I'd do my ACL this pre season. Come start of 2023 people will be talking him up as a Hall of Fame candidate

Seems to be a sudden swing in sentiment towards the recruiting dept.?
Has optimism replaced cynicism? Does that mean hope is glimmering on the horizon?
The very minor conspiratorial part of me imagines a brilliant master plan of using our 2022 season's bad fortunes to camouflage a tank and score big time at the draft/trade..
Whatever, the future just might be looking bright...

Don’t actually think there has been that much hype about the kid. We are all simply hopeful, it’s what would be best for the club.

With the season we have just had if supporters can’t hang on the hope that some of the young talent we are picking up now are going to be good then there’s not much to look forward too.

I can see a lot comment on the redrafting of Trew.
How is X Oneill compared to Trew in terms of development progress after 2 years from draft?
Hard to say because XONs second year was in 2020. No WAFL but he managed 5 AFL games. In 21 he started to accumulate plenty in the WAFL and was fringe in the AFL.

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

Xón is growing into a monster. Might not make it.

Trew gives me powerful Masten vibe. Masten from Wish.

For the first time in a long time, I woke up and felt optimistic about the future of the club. :thumbsu:

What I like most about the draft (plus the addition of Hunt) is we’ve picked players that have the attributes necessary to transition to a more modern game plan

We’ve seen over the last 2-3 years a shift in tactics across the league, accelerated by the 6-6-6 and stand rules, that our 2018 premiership core wasn’t capable of replicating

By adding some bigger midfield bodies and pace this year, and last year to an extent, we’re getting the pieces in place to implement what we all hope will be an updated game plan in 2023 and beyond

Even the ruckman we drafted has good agility and pace for his size

Whilst there is delight at our draft crop. Hewett and Ginbey will be tracked to Wardlaw / Sheezel for the next 5 years.
The move interstate aside, it will be a difficult comparison given it’s Hewett and Ginbey vs Wardlaw or Sheezel.

Plus the future pick 19 when Port get the spoon ;)

Just going to get in early and ask why our recruiting team loves brutish meatheads when the team is so desperately crying out for some silk and composure.

If Port Get the Spoon in 2023, 2 major things will happen.

1. the Port Board Will storm the Port Adelaide HQ and drag Ken Hinkley out of South Australia.

2. Crows fans will come out of the woodwork and troll Port on Bay 13 lol
