I love the optimism shown, next years draft will be even bigger for WCE. We still have another 10-13 players to be delisted. Then we wont see any big improvement till 2025

I just skip everything and look for these key words.

"In the absence of Keys..."

"Swinging Dick.."

"Gunston and Bock..."

"Let's all give this unfunny overused..."

"Prove it...."

"From wish..."

"Players code..."

"My intel.."

"Bock and Gunston.."
Let's all give this unfunny overused Dark Sharks a rest.

It's up there with Ochre as embarrassing sh#t clogging up our forum.

Pfft, we’ll improve in 2023.
To be fair, we set such a low bar this year it’d be hard not to improve

That said I’m cautiously optimistic that we’ll be far more competitive next year

I don't care what anyone says, this guy is my favourite eagle of all time.

the courage at 1:35, taking it up to Barry Hall, s**t mixing franklin after the cousins hit, the ridiculous hair.

You're a king beau.
100% this. Clearly nowhere near the best Eagle ever, probably not even a consideration for top 10. But heck, without a doubt my favourite Eagle ever. The way he went about it, made every player walk taller in the same way Woosha did in the 90s. The difference is, players like Beau were rare in his playing days. Gave no consideration for his own welfare, and would do whatever was needed to win any contest he approached. They don't make them like Beau anymore.

I remember being in Melbourne for the 2015 GF, and bumped into Beau just outside Fed Square the day before the game. Had a good chat with him - he was incredibly genuine and happy to give me his time for 5-10 minutes. Was such a memorable experience - certainly the only one worth remembering from that weekend :p

Bit harsh on Duggan here.

He's been one of our toughest/hardest players for a number of years.

Is decent overhead, and constantly drops in front of the forwards.

Now wanting to jump into an already messy argument, but if I had to select a single player on our list as 'closest comparison to Beau Waters' it would probably be Duggan.
Agree - Duggan is far closer to Waters than Foley.

Hehe, this board is now broken.

I really cant comment on the exact reasons.

But I'd say the rumour that stopped him from being drafted was either bullshit or turned out to be less significant than it was.

I'm no longer in the circle and won't be ever again.

So not a football ability issue?

This kid not getting drafted was the biggest surprise of this draft. Was mentioned as a late 1st. Then slipped to 2nd round, then early 3rd. Didnt get picked even as a rookie.

So a potentially overstated bullshit rumour cost him?

Wow.

Im betting he gets a chance and many clubs will end up with egg on faces with this one.

In reply to Wce17 and WCE_Phil re Kobe Ryan. I found your remarks very surprising and strongly feel that this is a case of mistaken identity. The word around SA circles is that he is a very well rounded, down to earth likeable lad. Has always been highly respected by team mates, opposition players and coaches and his peers. On doing some research and speaking to various groups have found out that right throughout his football career, even juniors, he was always Captain, vice Captain or in the leadership groups and he was also Vice Captain of the State side. All feedback has been very positive, and he also co-coached a local under 15 team football team this year through to winning a grand final. Apparently he is held in high regard at the West Adelaide Football Club . Again, mistaken identity 100%. Agree with your comments that he is a better player than some who were drafted.

Imagine if we'd picked him up in the rookie draft!!

Love the premium we've put on speed in our next-gen midfield. It seems like it's definitely been a focus for us when drafting:

Chesser, Hough, Burgiel, Hewett, Ginbey, Long all have some toe. Should be an exciting crew to watch develop over the years, with Culley the beast feeding it out to them.
And Hunt!
