Random query but did anyone ever work out what happened to Ryan Burrows

I don’t recall who told me but I believe he left in unfortunate circumstances not related to football but I’m not sure of the details. It’s why the club didn’t make much of it at the time

So looking through the 2023 players out of contract.

Im all for hitting the draft with 1st and 2nd rounders however 3rd rounders can and do land decent fringe youngsters or mature role players.

Players of interest come 2023 trade period.

1. Dev Robertson - Lions
2.Trey Ruscoe - Collingwood
3. Sam Sturt -Freo
4. Shannon Neale - Geelong
5.Jeramey Sharp - Gold Coast
6.Tyler Brockman - Hawthorn
7. Trent Rivers - Melbourne
8.Mitch Georgiades - Port ( obviously need more than a 3rd here)
9. SPS - Port
10. Angus Sheldrick (likely a 2nd needed there)
11. Jordan Sweet - Western Bulldogs

We avoided the temptation to trade in future picks. With the potential number of list spots openning up in 2023 I can see us chasing more picks and more player trades in 2023.

I’ll throw a mini tantrum if Robertson leaves. But I’ll completely understand if he does.

Pretty sure Sharp will end up at Flagmantle.

With any players, if you can trade them in cheaply (3R) you are winning. However we are in no rush to acquire depth and we can afford to be picky going ahead. Any trade will cost of a list spot and a pick where we should be targeting more unknowns at this point and hopefully nab a few stars.

1- If he plays all year then probably re-signs. If not then things don't look good for is career. Id happily get in his ear.
2- Not good enough. A bit of a Utility which probably type which hasn't helped but if we want him he plays 22 games next year and would be pricey for an average tweener.
3- Perma injured (Pass)
4- I don't think he will make it. Isn't a ruck, and for a KPF we should be able to do better.
5- Hard pass. Is a one trick pony on a wing but we have 6+ winger options with more versatility.
6- Didn't play this year because of injury. Has a young family at age 21 so a few alarm bells might be going off at Hawthorn about returning to WA. Is solely a pressure small fwd who doesnt kick that many goals. We can do a lot better and already have a few options on our books to take that spot.
7- is he more than a back flanker? Started off on fire but looked shaky in 2022. I'd love him for cheap with the go home factor sale applied.
8- If he comes home is gonna cost $$$. Would be a really good pickup but anything under pick 20 I wouldnt be doing. Is injury prone too.
9- Hard pass. Not what we need at this point and only looks to be a bit player going forward.
10- Limited inside midfielder which I don't think we rate because of kicking concerns and smallish size. Going ahead we should be drafting midfielders who would command games ahead of him as he is probably at the same level as Culley/ Trew etc.
11- Not AFL standard. Hell barely VFL standard. We have Barnett/ Williams/ Jamieson as depth or developing now.

Sharp almost a definite for Fremantle. Did hear in the trade aftermath from either Bell or Garlick that a trade for Sharp was agreed to in principle but the delay getting Lobb traded meant they ran out of time

Non WA originating players included: I'd prefer if possible good talents who have been held back by injuries or circumstances. No harm in a rookie pick or a value trade.

OOC
Liam Stocker (Carlton) Delisted and wouldnt be a bad Pre-season pickup. Struggles with anxiety but if we can get his head right then can fill a role.
Sam Flanders (GC) - Injury and a bit of a power player whose not strong enough to mix it yet.
Will Gould (Syd)- F̶a̶t̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ fitness issues.
Brodie Kemp (Carl) ACL early on has cost him but if we can settle him into a spot is a gun.

Signed
Logan McDonald (Sydney)
Neil Erasmus (Freo) lol

Stocker ain't got nuthin' on Cocker. Sound like he's always sitting on the **** of a Gay...But not quite.

Left handed and footed. Most likely Hawks
Will Gould (Syd)- F̶a̶t̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ fitness issues.
Gould heart - Spandau Ballet - I sung this at my wedding (not getting too defensive ;))

Called Kemp. Must have heart and great hands. First name Brodie though. Pause for thought.
Signed
Logan McDonald (Sydney)
Next Terminator? (Or pompous Kent?)
Neil Erasmus (Freo) lol
See above....

I reckon Dev Robertson would be our priority, wouldn't surprise me if we get him.

Sharp - Freo can have him
Ruscoe - Spud
Sturt - Get ****ed
Brockman - A possibility, WC wanted him in 2020 and he fills a need
Georgiades - Too costly
Rivers - Would take if the price is right. Possibly just an ordinary player if he's in a bottom 8 team
SPP - Wait for Free Agency, or don't bother unless cheap
Neale - A possibility

He's got Dunkley, Ashcroft and probably Fletcher ahead of him in the pecking order now.

Will be hard to convince him to stick around for another contract

Lol. Was going to post something similar.

Flagmantle - where you can find wild herds of unicorns prance across the tundra following purple rainbows....:tearsofjoy::imp::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
Are you going to tell my 4 year old daughter, Unicorns, her favourite animal in the whole wide world, aren’t real.

Because I’m sure she’ll give you a lecture about how your craycray and sillybilly.

If unicorns are real, then so is flagmantle.

I’m hoping he takes Lyons spot in the team.

I’ve been out watching training, and Dev is right up there now in our top 5 or 6 runners. He’s got genuine speed, and gut run.

We need two defensive mids in our team to allow all the down hill skiers to do their thing forward of centre.

Fletcher will be a wing.

Ashcroft should replace Zorko in the long term.

But our midfield is getting crowded.

briztoon maybe this thread isn't the most relevant place to ask this but I'm genuinely curious as to what you see being that last step to take for Brissie to win a flag.

From a list wise perspective everything seems unbelievably solid, home and away performance over the last few years also probably above what finals performance has been. Is it game plan, on-field leadership etc that's perhaps been limiting breaking through the Prelim (etc) barrier? Overall culture seems really solid.

I know these lines of questions can often seem like a dig so really don't want it to be that - I really like Brissie and alongside Sydney they're usually the team I'm rooting for in finals now that we've been so shit.

I perhaps see your key forwards as a bit always semi-injured/ when they're shut down they're really shut down (often in finals it's a tough time for talls but perhaps the more consistent ones like a Riewoldt/Hawkins always still seem to bob up with a few goals on down days). Aside from that it's really hard to spot any actual list flaws. Dunkley/the draftees will be good additions but it's not like your midfield hasn't been already really good. Will having a more two-way defensive midfield setup be that step or is there more to it?
