Hutch used his pace all the time . We played him on Saad on a number of occasions. He didn't chase him down but was quick enough to pressure him .
Oh, there’s no denying he had some pace- you don’t run a 2.84 time without having the ability. I just remember him saying he worked hard to improve his time in the year prior to coming to us. So I do like to qualify that result against the draft watchers opinions- do they actually use it on field?

Perhaps it’s my memory, but when I think of hutch or Saad there is one I would associate pace with. Hutch had a lot of very good traits and turned out to be a pivotal part of our squad in our successful years. Doing a role for the team was one of his best qualities.

Cole is our best shutdown small defender and tbh we haven’t got anyone else on our list that’s capable of playing that role

Don’t mind your idea but I think we need him in defence more than we do on a wing
I dunno, I guess we don't have many other options but having Cole play as a shutdown defender this year wouldn't have made much difference to how our season went. I just think he's wasted in that role

Just dominating a wing

I'd actually prefer to see Cole in a wing role maybe rotating through as a high half forward flanker. I've always said that's where I see him playing his best football and I'd really like for us to give him a shot at it
We don't have many small , accountable defenders with pace that can go with dangerous small forwards .

Shep was the one and rotham had tried and failed . Witherden is too slow and hurn duggan also not nimble enough.

I imagine our wings next season will be gaff , sheed , hough and chesser .

Maybe shuey or Kelly at times .

Nah I also have queries about Allen actually using his pace in games. Can test like Elliot Yeo all you want with the combine results, but unless you actually use that weapon, it should stop being thrown around. The West even called him a speedster. Really?

Haven't noticed Allen much in my Colts viewings but looking at his highlights, he's either getting robbed of some of his best work, or he doesn't use those traits at all.

Don't think there's a single clip of him lumbering more than 4-5 steps before disposing of the ball. No line breaking, no carrying the ball, no sidesteps, nothing to suggest he plays like his combine results suggest. Just link up work.

That's the difference between someone who tests like Yeo, and someone who PLAYS like Yeo. Yeo is a campaigner, and moves like a cat. Allen lumbers around like Brandt did.

Hewett on the other hand..

Thoughts Dutton? Monocle

Well Beck, you wrote the sort of critique thats written by someone who has only watched tape of the kids playing.

Nothing like watching them live, to see their running patterns and how they influence and or impact games.

He has a good 2-1 kick to handball ratio so is quite balanced and his last four or five games for Claremont were very good.

I was not advocating that we necessarily take him at 20, more so just stating that I would not be surprised if we really wanted him, that we would take him at that point in the draft.

With his two way running and solid tank, he brings a skill set thats sought after by recruiters, for the modern game.

Speaking of all things Montana how is Mrs Dark Sharks going with her feisty, temperamental Arabian horses...cheap too ... I bet .... lol.
Those horses with their diminutive tennsy heads on them and their toffy attitude, thats a pass for me, give me an Australian Quarter horse or a Mustang any day.

From what I'm reading it seems unlikely we are going to have room on the list to take a swing at Broadbent or the NGA kid Dewar.

Would that be right? Will they get picked up elsewhere?

We’ve got two extra spots for NGA kids on the rookie list if we want to use them (and if they’re not taken in the national draft)

Even though i would of liked to to have kept him think Trew will probably be delisted and maybe West

Sorry guys, I just had a reminiscing moment when I was at the G when there was a boundary throw in that signalled the 2006 title

I worked every game at the bar at Subi Oval as well. I remember when Lynch destroyed the Bulldogs in the Semi

No words can describe the elation I felt that day

Also Cuz was probably off his ****

So reading pieces about how the AFL would approach a Tassie team, I’m thinking we are getting in at the right time for our rebuild. Tassie team come in 2025 and that gives us another 2 to 3 clear and I compromised drafts.

Nice to see we can tank properly

Hopefully right in time for Freo’s drop off
