Had a chat to one of the WAFL league coaches.

  • thinks Collard (NGA) is an absolute gun. If we can get him after pick 40, will be a steal.
  • rates Buller, thinks he’s still got improvement left in him at 22.
  • doesn’t rate Bailey Banfield (FS) as draftable currently.
  • Sam Gilbey has the talent, but will be a slow burn. Coming from a long way back with his broken leg.
  • if we got pick 1, and were offered three first rounders, he reckons take it. A lot of talent in this draft, good depth too. He REALLY rates Watson.
  • really rates Schumacher (spelling?) highly. Worth a serious look.
  • Ginbey been playing sore recently (pretty obvious tbh).

Summary of a number of players that might find a new home next week with Maric seen to be the standout

A name mentioned late as almost an afterthought but had some fans on this board 6 months ago was Jack Cleaver, formerly of East Fremantle but now playing with the Essendon VFL side. A 188cm defender might be of interest if we use a 2nd pick

I didn't mind him last year, but two games I've seen of him this year has showed no real progress.

I come in peace….

It may have already been discussed in here but have heard from a good source that you guys are looking at Brandon Ryan in the MSD.

Cousin of Freo’s Luke. Currently playing for Northern Bullants as a Ruck/Fwd in the VFL. Bean pole but a very handy footballer.
Notte a beanpole please

I was referring specifically to the call for Allen to CHB.
We already had Jamison up there deep forward dropping marks with the few forward 50 entries we had, no need to spud it up further. During the game I was crying out for Allen to be played deeper so when we did get the ball down there we would have someone to take a grab.
In fact we only took 1 I50 mark for the whole game! And it was guess who? Oscar.
I'm all for throwing the magnets about but when you struggle to score, throwing you only decent forward into the backline is nuts.
Sorry but I don’t quite get why you were desperate for OA to be played deeper? The ball just wasn’t getting down there.
In a perfect world yes! He’s a gun!
I look at it this way- somehow get the ball forward 10 times. Shit kicks.Hacks. To wrong position. OA busts his arse and gets it 2-3 time against the odds.
- other scenario- OA plays up the ground with a bit more freedom and more help. The ball gets into the forward line more and is delivered better. Who to? Well that’s what I’m throwing up!

25 already, would prefer we look at younger draft talent personally

Because he had about 2 possessions to half time playing up the ground, meanwhile Jamo.dropped about 3 marks from reasonable chances that Oscar would have clunked. The ball then rebounded at light speed and resulted in Hawks scores. When we did get i50s they were either through a rare centre clearance or running and handballing. Our i50s were not going through the CHF so Oscar was not getting a look in anyway. I'd rather him there to take a mark or put on a tackle to maximise our I50s. At the moment we bust our arse to get an I50 and are kicking to a second rate WAFL forward line and the Oppo get rebound goals.
