Best game for us IMO was that Giants game this year when he was able to showcase his great kicking skills to leading forwards.

Since then as more players around him dropped he's been exposed more and more.

Is a 'cream' player like a Jetta who can look great in a team that's doing well, but when the side's struggling he gets exposed.
Still young enough that he could be a 'cream' player when making a push for finals again.

1) We can’t stop Sydney from talking to either Barrass or his manager as there’s no anti-poaching rules in the AFL. They don’t need our permission

2) What we do have control over is any trade negotiations should things progress that far. Barrass signed a contract through to the end of 2027 and we are under no obligation to release him from it.

Barrass won’t be at Sydney, or any other club, unless we are totally satisfied with a trade offer
I think it would be considered to be a major faux pas if a club was directly contacting a contracted player at another club during the season. Do you think Longmire has been on the phone to Barass? I doubt that happens very often at all. What they are doing, if anything at all, is having preliminary discussions with his manager and maybe with us to gauge the interest of both parties in a trade. And if we came out and made a public statement that Barass is a required player and will not be being traded under any circumstances and re - iterated that in private to Barass and his manager then i think that that would seriously dampen Sydney's enthusiasm to continue it beyond the first stage. The preliminary discussions are designed to find out if the player is gettable. If we made it clear that he is not gettable because we won't trade him then they wouldn't waste their time pursuing it. If the player is in the last year of a contract then it doesn't matter what the club says because the player is gettable at the end of the season whether the club likes it or not.

Even if we are willing to consider trading him giving our blessing and encouragement to Sydney to continue pursuing him without requiring them to put a ballpark offer in front of us first is incredibly stupid. It gives away leverage in any future negotiation. It is all very well to say he won't be going anywhere unless we are satisfied with a trade offer but if we allowed Sydney free reign to sell him on going there, and then they did sell him on going there, and then we refused the trade offer we would have a disgruntled player on our hands. Better to do everything to put the fire out early rather than let it keep burning and think you can just ignore it and then put it out at some later date with no collateral damage.

I liked the look of Fisher few years ago and he's the right age bracket. That said I don't think we need more C grade reject from other clubs and like SPS wanting more midfield minutes, I doubt he will get a look in there and I actually rather see Ginbey, Chesser, Culley and Hewett (oh and Harley) come on as more of a unit next season

Reckon SPS was showing a bit before the injury.
Its his 8th year in the AFL so he'd be wanting to show a bit by now. There are plenty of guys ahead of him on the delist pile but he wouldn't be far off. Probably next year if he hasnt significantly improved his production.

We actually dont have many if those either, lacking in talent on all fronts

Might not have worded it great but was just trying to get my frustration across of having seen multiple players called this in recent weeks when the clear deficiency that makes them a 'cream' player is a lack of willingness and effort to contest a ball or win it back from an opposing ball carrier.

At around the 30sec mark of that video they shot footage of a stoppage training drill involving fast handballs in traffic which eventually end up with Dom Sheed moving into space and wheeling around to his right hand side. Good to see we train as we play :drunk:

Surely we could structure up so blokes like him can use their preferred boot.
Nah! I’d prefer in practice they use their non preferred as much as possible as we’ve got so many dicks that can’t kick both feet , or can but don’t use!!

Why?

For me, he's the exact type of player a smart side would target.
I can't help but agree with old chap here.

Talented, good number of games under the belt, but (IMO) largely used out of position and now underused in general.
That's generally been my feel for the bloke as well. Lots of upside. Astute read Carbine Chaos.

He'd come on the cheap and at the very worst add depth
Couldn't agree more!

from what I've seen from his Perth days
F*ck me, I'm out.

Not that he's eligible as a father son to you guys, but Scott Watters boy is in the Gold Coast academy, and in their U16 team for the U16 championships.
