"Van Rooyen, Clay Hall, Hardeman are the WA players I would say have significantly improved their stocks, Tholstrup has stayed around the same mark."

As said by WCE_Phil above, these are the WA boys I am most interested in. Would be happy at this stage to snare 3 of them. Hopefully, our recruiting team are on the same page as WCE_Phil. Hopefully, we can secure these lads. Would be rapt.

Curtin falling fast in recruiting circles. Will need to show a lot more and quickly to retain a place in the top 20 let alone the top 5.

Already 18, 196cm and 91kg's. A man against boys a lot of the time. His reading of the play from defence has been amazing, particularly last year but Van Rooyen, Clay Hall, Hardeman are the WA players I would say have significantly improved their stocks, Tholstrup has stayed around the same mark, Edwards and Curtin falling significantly.

Briztoon is right, outside of Reid there doesn't seem to be a top tier inside mid in the draft class at this stage. Clay Hall is now potentially top of the list of contenders. But a lot of the mid types will come on as the year goes on. There are a hell of a lot of talented talls, rucks, ruck-forwards, medium forwards, half forwards and more outside leaning balanced mids as well as some pretty good looking medium/small defenders and some great small forward options but they do seem on the really small side.

Right now it looks like pick 1, then 20+ who could go from pick 2 to 10, then depending on club needs I would suggest another 40+ afl quality talents. I can see 80 players being taken in the main draft this year. Last year after pick 30 it was a real lottery and even then all players post pick 20 all had at least 1 major weakness.

What we are wanting to see as the year goes on is players surge into that elite category. Hall doesn't turn 18 for another month and just racked up 27 disposals, 5 tackles and a goal in WAFL seniors. 190cm and is rock solid.

We have already drafted Culley, Ginbey and Hewett who are good sized mids.

Wont be a massive loss if we miss out on a big inside mid this year, especially if we have eyes on Dev Robertson.

Sheldrick picked up 35 and a couple of goals on theweekend.

Jack Carrol 37 and a goal.

Can someone please lend our new Hawks friend a few commas and full stops?

Personally don't see Buller as an AFL level prospect. He's not suddenly going to get more athletic in an AFL environment and I think we have the key tall coverage and on exposed form Bailey Williams is much more athletic and better in the ruck.

If Buller hadn't kicked 4 goals against Souths he wouldn't be on anyone's target list. I'm not against it if it's as a second round MSD pick at this stage but thats it. He keeps kicking goals mind you and he could be a wrecking ball up front and i'll pay closer attention. He's all strength and power. It is however a big step up to AFL level not only skill and speed wise but also in terms of fitness.

Mind you i'm not watching a lot of WAFL seniors this year but he didn't look like a standout in the WAFL preseason match against the beagles. I just happened to see Peels seniors play on the weekend due to being there to watch the Colts.

Bullers form this year may be more one to ask the more Avid WAFL fans on here.

In the case Nic retires I wouldn’t be against getting Lycett back as mature backup if it didn’t cost anything and he was into the idea

Nic isn't retiring. He is getting that sweet AFL ambassador money for this year and next .

I just hope we aren't giving him 500k a year too but wouldn't be surprised

After seeing how fast BW's coming on I don't recon we need a fill in, the way this years panning out I recon we stick with our young rucks and worry about a mature body at the pointy end.
Baileys last 2 games have been steps in the right direction but....... vs Geelong he was up against non physical rucks and was given a lesson in follow up work around the ground but still performed admirably.

Vs port it was the first time he was against a less mature ruch than himself . He did what he should and dominated.

But let's not kid ourselves he is a few years away from halving contests against the big boys of the comp

If natanui is cooked bringing in a lycett for cheap just to play wafl and AFL when we have injuries or playing a team with twin towers would be an astute move .

Lycett would also give great on field guidance for jamo and Barnett in the wafl

Finally! This is the draft our Purple friends down the road have been waiting for! The elusive flag is only one or two quality key forwards away and now with the unexpected dip in form, all of the stars are aligning for the Dockers to pick up a generational forward to lead their team to glory with a Top 10 draft pi...

Oh wait, never mind, carry on.

Good old Obeanie - we are having a discussion at 30,000 feet and it’s 6 months before the draft and he wants to argue decimal points. Must be something about the heat and humidity in Darwin.

Your take on decimal points / loose change is a tad generous.

Pick 24 would become 26. We could easily trade for 26 and keep pick 2.

The Giants trade was more like it.

They could just trade one of their excess rucks for a high pick surely? That Jackson guy might get them something worthwhile.

Moir,Tholstrop,Ginbey,Hewett, Long,Hough and Chesser.

That would go a fair way to addressing our midfield and add some goal kicking class as well.
Hold on Moir atm.

Moir, Curtin and Duursma could all easily slide based on the start of the season. We need a bit more time before locking these guys away as top 10 prospects.

Fair.

But one game with 30 players all rotating all trying to impress isn't a great way to judge anyone.
Judging them on what I’ve have seen and reports on games I haven’t. Not just on one game (academy).
Duursma in my view has been underwhelming in all of his games so far but has the athleticism and skills to still go high he just needs to find some of the ball.

Curtin has been used mainly as a key forward this year and been upstaged by Van Rooyen. While he didn’t do a lot wrong playing in defence in the academy game he certainly didn’t excel either.

Moir has started okay at colts level with 6 goals and 12.5 disposals average in two games. A very average performance in the academy game. Isn’t screaming top 5 right now so is a hold. He’s obviously talented just needs to show it.

Have the couple of people suggesting Lycett watched any of Port this year?

He's more cooked than Nic

Love the notion of Lycett coming back to his spiritual home but him being dropped to make way for a 3rd gamer or whatever he was is telling

And if you’re going to invest in a mature ruck, he needs to be durable. Something Lycett isn’t

Same reason why Naismith would be a risk

No confirmation that sheldrik has re-signed with the swans .

Only 2 first rounders haven't from 2021 draft Hobbs and sheldrik ?

With the lack of inside mids available this draft and swans not playing Angus we should be in his ear .

Our or Ports 2nd?

Agreed. For that role durability is a must have.

We got lucky with Vardy as he was fit in that period when we needed him. And when fit Vardy was a decent player but he was hamperred throughout his career.

Hickey's been struggling and just coming back.

Coen Livingston for a pick after 40 would be a big tick.
