McGlade is a dynamic, evasive, proper crumbing small forward with very good skills.

Kenh is a 185cm ish half back with a great athletic profile, he provides a lot of run/rebound out of the back line and possesses a beautiful left foot kick. AA under 16

thanks for your analysis.
Kenh looks like a very nice HB, just what WC need!
Imagine a 190cm HB in 2 years that can run and rebound and kick beautifully?
Hope he continues his rise!

Just a quick question on his beautiful left foot kick, is it, penetrating, loopy, floaty, flat, very good, elite?
There are few posters on here that would very much like to discuss that for the next few months.
Thanks in advance.

Not me, not even if it's long and penetrating, a fruit loopy, a brown floaty or flat n' floppy?

It's penetrating, has a lovely arc and is usually accurate. He's probably somewhere between good and elite. We'll probably have to wait for Dr Phil to educate us all

Another good list of Vic Country talent.

That said, Johnston and Lucca have shown we will happily draft the Metro talent

Gross as well, both him and Grego seemed genuinely stoked to head west unlike the Murphy Reid hostage situation. Greeves is the only metro player I’m particularly keen on at this early stage, the Country squad is stacked with Lindsay, Onley, NHH and Duursma my initial watches. Whilst being the least talented of that group, Lindsay would be the best fit if we could get him with a 2R before our NGA/FS kids and in front of the picks blowing out from bid matching.

Jack Dalton is a good player, he's another I like for Metro.

And I've heard big things about Arki Butler, another Brighton Grammar boy but he's for next year.

Dalton has great skills and is a left footer very small though, now that beast mode seems to be the way we’re drafting is there a spot for him in the game plan?

When you get drafted in the 40s the relief would be massive.

At that point in the draft kids would be rapt to move anywhere just to get a crack.

It's the 1st round talent that think they are entitled to dictate where they end up.

Moreso the pressers afterwards. Lucca saying he wanted to go to WCE and Gross talking about his family here. Two great kids.

If MReid got drafted by Freo in the 40s I still think he’d look like he’d been shot.

Cody played most of his bottom age season as a key defender at Colts level and for WA at the champs, impressing people enough to get himself firmly into the first round conversation for 2025. Late in the season Claremont threw him forward and he responded with back to back 6 goal games to demonstrate his elite potential.

Apologies for the poor audio quality at times in this one.

Gross having so much family over in Perth is a big plus.

Gross' mother is from Perth and he spends a few weeks every summer in Perth, so he knows what it's all about and Grego wanted to get picked up from WCE before the draft even happened, so I guess both being happy to come across makes sense.

Mind you, makes sense that the country boys would be happier to move interstate, as they have to move wherever they go, whereas Metro players would have a more than 50% chance of staying in Vic, especially the higher they go in the draft.

Reid was an interesting one, didn't look impressed on draft night but perhaps that's just his personality? Seemed happy enough in interviews post draft.

Could be more a 'didn't want to play for Freo' thing, as opposed to not wanting to go to Perth.

Anyone know who his manager is?

If Cripps doesn't kick 30 and Sheed doesn't play 16 games, they're done. We have too many small forwards and forward/mids that need to be developed in their spots. I can't see Sheed getting a game even if he gets fit. And I can see Cripps getting dropped at the bye if he hasn't kicked a dozen or more.

As a point of interest, if Cripps' last season is partly the reason for him to be under the pump in the eyes of many, it is worth noting that only in 2015 and 2018, both GF years where we played more games, did he have more shots on goal than the 54 shots he had last season. Sure, some of his other stats were down but he had hand issues which IMO caused a lot of the handling (fumbling) we saw last season and probably a drop off in his tackling. I think we'll see a return to his usual form in 2025.

Besides the hauls of the last two years I think we got the best tall in each of those drafts - both sliding. Our drafting of late has been very, very good
I agree we got some really decent talent in, but while our selections have been good, I don't think our trading was particularly special, especially if trading 3 was always part of the plan and not a knee jerk when the Hawks took 14 off the table by trading it to Carlton. My biggest disappointment is that we didn't take Dodson in the draft, or Knobel in the rookie draft because unless Flynn stays fit, or Barnett/Jamieson/A Reid stands up as a ruckman, all we have to rely on is BW again being belted in the HO and (more importantly) around the ground by opposition ruckmen.
We are however, in a great position for the 2025 draft.

If Warner becomes available next year, what are we comfortable giving up?

Is there any scenario where we can bring Warner in and retain our F1?
Short answer is NO. We'd have to use it or split it.

It is always great to get premium quality players in but not if it means selling the farm. I am actually quite bullish about our crop of mids with 2 in particular (outside of those just drafted) giving me a great hope. One is obviously Hewitt who I believe can be as good as Warner, and the other, which may surprise people, is Jack Hutchinson who is Yeo sized, hard at it and could be another big bodied mid for us. I reckon I saw enough of him in really limited midfield minutes last season to think he can make the transition quickly.

I think I'd be waiting to see how those two, and our crop of 2023 & 2024 draftees progress before giving up our F1 for Warner.

Well articulated, succinct and exactly as I see it. ....Which means it'll probably go down like a wet balloon on this board 😄

I'm pretty bullish on Clay Hall as well.

I see him as our bash and crash inside mid in the Clayton Oliver mould. His kicking isn't elite but hopefully he can extract the ball with clean hands and also play that defensive mid role
