Bo allan ?

In the champs he dominated physically in the centre . He is very much in the yeo mold when it comes to player comparisons.

For a draftee to compete against men at wafl level he has to have some physicality

I think you dont know what you are talking about
I don't know what you were watching but dominated isn't the word I would use🤣
He goes OK, but so does everyone else in the AFL.

We will see, but I don't think i'm wrong here despite the hype. I think if he plays anywhere it will be as a role player and even then he's a very West Coast pick in an athlete that looks good but doesn't really do all that much.

My prediction is that he at best comes in for R1 does **** all & maybe hold a spot for a couple of games and then spends the whole year in the WAFL. Looking at more games in years 2 & 3 off a flank a bit like what Hough has done.

Sounds like you were only talking about year 1 .

I thought you were saying Allan ends up on a wing at best in his career.

Year 1 I expect allan to play off the HBF both wafl and afl level .

You replied to a post about our potential future midfield of Harley, Hewett, warner and ginbey/allan chopping in and out to add some grunt

I don't think he'll be in the on-ball rotation ever. Will probably flirt with the wing or flank.
I'd love a superstar from every pick but I have him in the range of being better than Chesser, but worse than Matt Johnson (Freo) .

He hasn't even played a game yet.

Matt Johnson from freo is a better footballer but athletically limited.

Chesser is athletically gifted but never proved himself at any level above u16s

Bo allan is an elite athlete with power and endurance, proved himself at under 18s taking on the opposition best in the middle and also performed well at peel seniors winning a premiership. I can see him as a James rowbottom type . Not a front line star but just as important in a midfield mix

Allan will be a fine player.
So Fine GIFs | Tenor

I'm hoping Allan can be a hard running, powerful marking wing with a long kick. If he can take some runs through the middle then great.

He should be further ahead than most in his draft cohort. Come through traditional pathways, one of the very oldest in his draft group and is an amazing athlete.

If he can become elite at reading the play on the inside he would be an insane steal.

Gross & Shanahan are my two favourites from our draft group. Both were sliders and I think both have elite potential.

I read recently that Gross was rated even higher in his underage years, and had an underwhelming 2024… can anyone comment?

Very happy about those sliders

Because he's not a size or athletic standout. His disposal by foot can be hit and miss. But he can be an absolute ball pig inside, is great by hand, is hard at it and knows where the goals are. He has enough elite attributes to really contribute to being part of a strong midfield group.

An inside ball pig is exactly what people have overlooked when talking about our future midfield. Without question we need an outside weapon (what people are describing Rodriguez) but a ball pig to go with the dynamic Reid, Hewett and hopefully a Warner would really round out the midfield.

If Gross is this, gee we’ve done well to set our midfield up.

Perfect summation all round!!

I think you’ve got Johnson arse about. Athletically gifted but football limited! To be fair I haven’t seen huge amounts of him but when I watched he seemed to be constantly getting caught running to poor positions.Very poor decision maker/disposal
He isn't quick but has reasonable agility and good in traffic .

Unfortunately for him there is not inside mid spot and doesn't have the disposal quality needed for an outside role .

Saying that chesser is in the same boat both look like role players at best

Sorry on Rodriguez he is not outside at all he is a centreman
He is a inside mid that has elite footskills on either side
He is tough hard at it gets a lot of second possession in the centre
Is elite distributor by hand and foot so brings other into the game
He has a very balanced inside outside game

I fear we may well have to make a decision between trading for Warner or drafting Rodriguez as I’m not sure we’ll be able to get both. Our R1 pick likely to be needed for either

It’s why I won’t be all that upset if Warner extends with Sydney

I'd take a proven commodity like Warner over a draftee. Who's to say we even finish bottom 4? I'm not expecting a miracle, but all it takes for a mid table team to drop to bottom 4 is a bad run with injury. Conversely, a bit of youthful enthusiasm and a tactical edge from a new gameplan, and we could see ourselves with 8+ wins.

100% take the proven commodity.
But why cant WC do both?
We may finish with 6-7 wins but it still is a bottom 5 finish.
Pick up best midfielder with that pick and or C Warner.
I know most of the commentary around C Warner is he is worth 2 first round picks, but what 2 1st round picks.
If you look at the biggest recent trades Bolton to FRE picks 10, 11, 18 out picks 14 & F3rd(37) back the trade value was actually 2065 points which equates to pick 3-4.
2020 trade for Cameron GEE gave 13, 15, 20 & F4th(71) and got back 2 F2nd picks 24, 27 so actual cost was 1777 points or pick 5-6?
Bolton was heavily contracted, Warner OOC 2025 so based on trades for top class players recently perhaps pick 5 or equivalent would be appropriate for C Warner, Hawks 1st pick 9-12 and F2nd equates to pick 3-4?
I have changed my thoughts on Warner trade and worth since I did a points calculation.
Still prefer to do both, Warner and best mid @ pick 4-5.
