your correct.
More reason the Chad deal is hawks 1st and WC F1st.
I guess it depends what the club thinks about the top mids, vs a guy who fills what could be a dire need by the end of the year in Curtin.
If we did draft Cody Curtin id be leaning towards keeping our 2026 1st rounder, big brother Dan will be OOC in 2026...

Perhaps using our 1st on Warner in 2025 then chasing both Curtins is something we'd consider.
I actually like the sound of that tbh

I know the DVI draft points system has changed and academy/FS etc are only 10% discount instead of 20% like it was in 2024.
What are the actual rules regarding academy/FS/NGA players with regard to picking within a certain round or is it totally on points?
I know they changed the AFLW draft in 2024 that you have to pick a player with your next pick in the round you pick them, is this part of AFL draft this year?

Bad news fellas. Yas gifted a dog to Harley Reid.

I think the dog resides in Vic country. It's over. I dont think hes going to sign an extension. Taking dogs state to state is nearly impossible.
No it's not

thanks I just got something that explains it all including the new DVI points allocated to each pick.
The only thing that I was unaware of is the 10% discount for academy/FS/NGA players applies to the first round only.
After that 84 points is the discount applied to every pick for the same academy/FS/NGA players.

Barrass left for more money and longer contract.
It will be interesting to see how he goes without having Gov to assist him. Even with Gov he had some bags of goals kicked on him by the likes of Larkey, Curnow etc..regularly.

Indeed. When compared against the rest of the competition, the defensive 1-on-1 figures for T.Barrass are not very good.

Considering what was paid, it's a very high price for effectively an intercept defender.

Never had a problem with it.

Moved 2 x Border Collie from Qld to Vic to NSW to England without issue.
Moved 2 x Spaniel from NSW to ACT to UK also without issue.

International takes a bit of paperwork but state to state is just a matter of re-registering with new vet and council.

So we should be trying to bring Ben Miller back to WA?

Just need a Vic based AFL player to run the dog over. Set off a John wick style vengeance tour against the whole state by Harley.

Our problem was/is we never trade anyone out to try and bring back draft equity we lose in trades. Look at the Dockers, gave away a top pick for Luke Jackson but almost got it right back when Lachie Schultz left.

So our problem is good players dont ask to be traded to other teams?

thanks for your great work, very interesting analysis.
Question without notice to brains trust of this board.
Who would you target/recruit/trade for KDEF position at WC realistically in 2025-26?
Is there a decent KDEF option out there in state leagues somewhere that you would target that is ready to go?

No idea who'll be available but KPDs are very similar to rucks they get delisted and pick up by another team straight away. Regardless of talent sometimes
What ever happened to Blake schlensog? Was really being talked up a few seasons ago to make a comeback but never happened

I have watched a bit of footage of A Davis from Claremont and looks like a decent type.
Know anything about him?

So what this tells us is the Hawks gifted us their future first, second and third-round picks in return for a player that is worse defensively than Billy Frampton & our fourth-round pick

I'm surprised Clancy Dennis went undrafted - was U18 AA for KPD yet not even a rookie spot for him. Not sure if he has been a train on anywhere either.

All I can think of is maybe he is too short to be a KPD at AFL level these days? Listed at 195cm but surely must still be growing.
Hasn’t had a train on. Had a foot injury at the draft which scared a lot of teams off, Swans also surprisingly chose not to match the bid for Cochrane when Pies were also keen on Dennis. Unlikely to get much bigger but a big chance to go in the MSD with a good start in the league for Claremont.

Whilst I was at the beach down south in Quindalup over the break the Warner family were set up next to me with a big gazebo thing having beers etc. All the boys were there (including the younger ones, Ashton?) and parents etc. They all seem very close - I'm not sure how many AFL players Chad's age were just chilling with their parents over New Years tbh. Wouldnt be at all suprised to see Chad come home given how close they all looked. Guess we'll see.
