For me it's;
- Hurn retired. Two soft tissue injuries. All timer, but he turns 34 in a few weeks.
- Reddo delisted. Wouldn't get a spot anywhere else.
- Hutch delisted. Clearly Simpson doesn't want to play him.
- Vardy delisted. Seriously 3 fwds and 2 rucks is not working - better off just throwing Waterman in the ruck yesterday.
- Gaff trade.
- Ah Chee seems done although I don't mind him.
- Sheed should be moved on, but might have too many credits. Not clean and fast to be outside player. Not elite to be inside. His best is good, but he normal hasn't been elite. Feels like sacrilidge because of "that" kick. But still. Are we sure Connor West can't do everything Sheed does?

That's seven blokes who'll be 27 & over by April next year. Replace them with 23 and under and those age issues start fixing themselves.

Trading a couple of known quanitiy, B22/boardline B22 players for 2 tickets in the Great Auskick Lottery?

Who are you and what have you done with GWS?

I ma saying that if they want picks, you know I am not a big draft fan. I would be looking at the second tier at who are the best players there and recruit from there.

Would we draft another HBFer like jack Avery i wonder. As posters above have stated a lot of the guys getting games in our backline are border line best 22 and hurn/shep wont be around much longer. How high do you think Avery will go in the draft?

For a team that plays so many "talls" All bar Edwards are very much on the short side for their positions in the next generation. 193cm 20 years ago become 196 ten years ago and is becoming/has become 199+ now. Unless the player is like Allen (where their timing on the lead, jump and mark) allow them to play taller than they are we are potentially in trouble with talls too.

The whole draft this year is a complete ****ing guess again because we havent had the champs and then see how those players come back and perform after having had that step up to a higher level.

Also to those who said we drafted 2 mids and a forward last year I disagree. Winder is a midfielder/winger, not a forward. Just because he can run forward and kick goals or because the Beagles have been playing him forward i completely disagree that is his best position.

Lesser, shorter version of Rotham imo. I'd consider him with a late or rookie pick. We really need run and carry and elite kicking from defence and outside of 2-3 years away (if he's given the time and develops) Ben Johnson, we don't have a player on the list.

Redden was in our best today and last week.
You know what you're going to get from him.

West and XON shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Redden.

West is extremely poorly skilled.
XON can't find it.
Had 3 possessions in the first half today.

West has only been training in a AFL environment for 8 weeks learning this system your being very harsh and probably judging his AFL impact as well ..
Give the kid a chance ..

He's 22 and is a terrible kick.
I'm not sure being on an AFL list will improve his skills.

Some players are just poorly skilled and he's one of them.

Reading these threads i can only assume my IQ drops.

Listen up, take a seat, shut up because class is in session. Let me remind you all of some facts.

2010, what happened? We finished last. What happened the following year? We were won win away from a grand final. Ugh no buts, let me finish. What changed from 2010 to 2011? Well we executed our high draft picks (Gaff and Darling) who made immediate impacts the following season. What else changed? Well our senior players got healthy (Kerr, Nicoski, Embers etc) - Hold on i'm still talking. Add a healthy Shuey too.

Now, again same thing happened in 2017 going into the 2018 season.

Us missing the finals and getting a top 10 pick will allow us to retool imo. Look no further than what Port did with Butters and Rose.

Noe enjoy the rest of your days you peasants - Class has finished.

Duggan last signed a contract in 2018, wonder what the delay was in offering him a new deal ? and why that deal hasn't arrived yet ? What pick would he command if he were to leave a I assume he is a restricted free agent ? Early second rounder?

On SM-G981B using BigFooty.com mobile app

There was speculation a while back that Mitchell might be trying to poach him over to Hawthorn.

(But that speculation was by me, and based solely on the fact he hadn’t signed a new deal yet)

He said in May that it was close to being sorted out, so who knows what the holdup is:https://www.sportfm.com.au/post/duggan-set-to-re-sign-with-eagles

I'm not sure being on an AFL list will improve his skills.

Some players are just poorly skilled and he's one of them.

And yet he impressed enough at training in simulated games for Simmo to give him a game ..
don`t be too harsh just yet on limited viewing ..

If what I'm hearing is true, we might have a handful of first and second rounders to rebuild with in the coming draft and trade period. Some fan favourite players will be shown the door and others are requesting trades. A hint: what is Darling worth to a club in their window?

Just a bit worried Simmo might end up like Ross Lyon, a good coach with a ready made squad but cant rebuild for sh*t.

I too have heard that Simpson is planning to rebuild the list including moving on underperforming senior players and change the game plan for next season.

Whether this unfolds remains to be seen....it is stubborn Simpson.

Was height the issue ? Nelson and Black were short and very slight to be considered as winger /midfield prospects ..

I can’t tell you mate, they both excelled in state 18’s and both started playing league at 18. Been ball magnets their whole career. There is many of these guys playing second tier footy, poor buggers are bloody good players and get to have birthday after birthday playing on AFL listed donkeys.

OMG all over the place , no quick fix hopefully around 8th -12th next few years and rebuild in two to three years ....anyone who wants to leave okay but we don't normally cut deep without players wanting out .
